I was sick just the week before last and now I'm sick again. I have fibro, so course everything is a million times worse then it normally is. I'm so beat down like I have a job and I just keep getting sick. Does fibro compromise the immune system? I see my rheumatologist on Friday thank God, but it's always something and I have to work tomorrow and I only had one day to rest. Idk what to do anymore.
I'm sorry your so sick and get that way a lot. I know fibro is autoimmune system. But don't know if it causes a weaker immune system. I know it will cause you to be weaker so thus more prone to things happening. So yea I guess. Impraying anywAys no matter what is true.
Schmegs, I have 3 AI diseases/disorders, and they all work against me getting over sicknesses. In 1991 I was dx with Asthma & allergies, requiring me to avoid other known sick people (flu, strep throat, etc). In 2007 I began having fibro symptoms but wasn't dx until 2012. In 2015 I was dx with hypothyroidism and sjogrens back to back. Since then I seem to have a pattern where sinus allergies trigger sjogrens which then triggers fibro flares. But thinking back, I'm pretty sure I've had sjogrens since the 1990's, when my dry eyes and mouth first began. So in my opinion is say yes, I believe AI compromises our abilities to fight off things healthier people can party through!
Sorry to hear. Getting sick with fibro, etc sucks! Takes forever to get better & yes everything hurts even more! Healthy folks don't understand. Drugs I'm on lower my immune system & maybe the diseases too, don't see how they can't. Just be diligent about washing hands & not rubbing eyes or nose. Go to your regular dr as soon as you start to get sick. They usually give me something like antibiotics & I gota stay off my meds till I'm all better for at least 3 consecutive days. And unfortunately, it got worse for me, like most of us, and I couldn't work anymore. 44 & on disability a few years now. Glad you're seeing your Dr soon. Feel better!
Thanks everyone for the wonderful info! I was reading about how chronic sinus infections are part of fibro as well, which is what I have for the second time this year already. My thing is that I'm trying to stay away from any antibiotics as I feel because I have taken them so much, they are really why my immune system is so low, and also right after I had my sinus surgery was when everything started to snowball. I've been trying some alternatives like breathing in steam from clove, thyme, and cinnamon oils which my dad swears by. I guess I'm going to have to pepare for the possibility that things might get worse from now on. But all my love and prayers to all of you suffering out there too! Idk what I would do without this support group. It's really been keeping me going.
