Sick and tired

Apr 29, 2016 8:48 AM

Hello, Just needed to vent. I'm sick and tired of being sick. 37 years old. Fibromyalgia and other stuff since 2012. Struggling to keep working full time. Daily struggle as most days I wake up with pain level 7. Keeps getting worse. Also mom and wife. Trying to keep the faith, but it ain't easy. Jesus, I put myself in Your hands everyday. I pray for more research and innovative solutions.

Cosmic, I'm sorry you are struggling. It's a very hard battle, day in & day out, to learn to live with, accept, and find ways to cope with our chronic pain lives, without letting our pain take over and rule out lives. I've been fighting DDD & spine OA, with TMJ & migraines since 1995. Other than that I was healthy until 2007-2008. Fibro started then, along with pelvic issues room a mass in my abdomen. They took it out in 2010 & my health has deteriorated with new dx every year since. I'm 54 and haven't been able to work since 2010. Thankfully my children were grown already, but even so it has been hard to enjoy time with others. My faith is what keeps me going! God says we will have pain & struggles, and we're are too turn to him to get through it. "Just Be Held" is one of my favorite songs when I'm really struggling to get through. I take life one day at a time, one step at a time. I'm learning to relax, and to do exercise to keep mobility, and to cry when I need to. I now it's very hard for you having to work and raise children; my neck surgeries occurred when mine were small, so I do understand. Venting here is good. We're here for each other, to listen and offer suggestions, and provide hope & support that hopefully not every day will be as bad, and learn coping measures. Things I mentioned were suggested in this community, and they do help.

Talk to your doctor about a pain med, or muscle relaxer for bedtime, out for breakthrough pain. It's even possible he/she needs to test further to rule out something else is causing the worsening of symptoms. I get severe cramps & hypnogogic jerks (RLS) at night while trying to fail asleep. The only thing that helps is massaging voltaren gel in my calves & taking a muscle relaxer. I'm sending you hugs & praying God helps you find the best coping methods for you! We are all different so try things just in case it's what you need. I also listen to contemporary Christian music while relaxing, or stressing, and it always helps. Hugs!! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Appreciate the kind words and suggestions, Flappys. I am actually on zoloft, methocarbamol, gabapentin, lorazepam, buproprion. I've tried cymbalta and savella but side effects too great. I have IBS, arthritis in spine, me/cfs, etc. At present, fighting painful sinusitis. Used to take tramadol and topamax, but again side effects outweighed the benefits. Gentle hugs back.

Thank you for the hugs. When I get sinusitis I flush my nasal passages every 2-3 hours, using AYR saline and holding my head over the sink. It usually shortened the head gunk lingering too long. Ick! Lol. I also microwave rice bags (tube socks filled with rice & knotted) and last with it across my eyes & nose. I'm fighting IBS-C for the last few weeks badly. Occasionally I get IBS-D and that's problems in itself. I can't take cymbalta or many other meds due to reactions. Try and get rest this weekend so next week will be better! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Cosmica, I am so sorry to hear you are struggling. I understand the feeling of being sick of being sick and tired. I am 50 years old and have been in pain since I was around 18. At first it started with my shoulder and I went to several doctors when the pain became daily. It took a couple of years to find a doctor to help me and it turned out I had long thoracic nerve palsy effecting the muscle that is supposed to hold your shoulder blade in place when you lift your arm. I had a pectoralis major transfer with muscle and ligaments being taken from my leg leaving an incision from my knee to my hip. I had over 250 staples and had 4 drains and took 12 weeks before I was even able to remove the sling. That was the first of 30 surgeries in 18 years. I have degenerative joint and disc disease, RSD/CRPS, cervical spondalytic myelopathy, thoracic degeneration and many other issues. I understand that you are in horrible pain. I hope that you find a way to find balance between your pain and living a happy life. Believe me, it's possible to have a happy life. In between flares and being exhausted there are blessings that you can find if you choose to look for them. I am sending you supportive {{{Hugs}}} and prayers for a blessed weekend 💕🙏🏻🌻😊
