Sinusitis and Pseudomonas

Feb 17, 2018 6:17 AM

Hi All,
So, I've had Bacterial Sinusitis (Sinus Infection incase it's called something else elsewhere) for 16 days now. I finished my first course of antibiotics (Amoxicillin) today which I was on for 7 days but for the last few days I've had a very peculiar development, as well as the green mucus I was already having I then began to have blue mucus aswell. Obviously I have a variety of other symptoms with it which are all a bit gross to describe to others so i'll refrain unless you need more details but has anyone else had acute bacterial Sinusitis like this? I have to wait a day then I begin doxycycline 100mg for 7 days so I'm hoping that'll clear it up but just want to see if anyone else has experienced this. Btw I put Pseudomonas in the title as it is one of the more common bacteria that can cause this

I have never heard of blue mucous before. I would suggest that you contact your doctor, as that does not seem normal.

Pseudomonas pyocyanea can cause mucus to turn blue. That is likely why you were prescribed two antibiotic treatments.

Wow That is crazy! I am going through a bad sinus infection but nothing like yours! I had so much forehead pressure and every time I bent down it would throb really bad! After 1 antibiotic and 1 steroid I got CT scan and it shows my upper nasal canal it clogged so they must do a balloon procedure in the office after my 2 antibiotic that I need to take for 2 weeks lots of people have sinus infections lately.
