Check with your doctor first. I have sjogrens and get thick sinus drainage. I've been having issues for nearly a week, and laying down is nearly impossible, so I understand. My ENT doc told me to take Mucinex, or Mucinex DM if coughing mucus, and do saline nose spray flushes multiple times a day (lean over sink to allow saline to drain out). I also gargle warm salt water to rinse the back of my throat, and several times a night I spray my throat with Cloraseptic throat spray; numbs throat so don't feel tickle. I hope this is helpful. But make sure you can take the Mucinex with any other meds without problems. Mucinex D dropped my blood pressure and i passed out on a doctor; can't use it anymore.

Thank you so much! Did the cloraseptic burn your throat? @FlappysLady81

I have a chronic sinus infection, so i know what you mean about midis always dripping down your throat, or any where else. For me, Sudafed helps a lot. Dries it the mucus, them the saline rinse several times a day to keep the sinuses empty.
Sometimes throat coat tea helps me be able to not hurt from the menus as much, other times it makes everything worse. There's also an iodine Nasal spray that can help with sinus issues.

It burns a little sometimes, but not always.

Has anyone tried using a neddy pot for this? I have chronic asthma With chronic sinus infection and seem to get bronchitis at drop of hat and I think it works very well to flush withwater or saline sol.

I've tried it but don't like it because of having to turn head sideways. That position is too painful and near impossible with my cervical disc issues. That's why I use the AYR saline flushes.

Sometimes Breathe Easy Tea by Traditional Medicinals can help. But it has natural ephedra in it, so make sure you can take it. Also make sure you are not allergic to any of the other ingredients. My roommate is allergic to a couple of them.
And even sure not to exceed the recommended dosage. It will wire you something fierce.

For me it helps to drink hot water with honey 3x a day, use hypertonic nasal rinsed.it's like regular saline but much more concentreated. It's very safe, and you can use it as much as every half-hour.
But you should talk to y poo ur doctor about the possibility of nasal steroids, such as Naso nax. You can buy over the counter flurnef and nasocort but I am very allergic to flurnef and haven't tried nasocort so I'm not recommending either.
It can also help to steam.they sell steam machines on Amazon, and they are not very expensive. I found it works pretty well. If you already have a nebulizer, you can ask your doctor for normal saline in it. That should also help.
As you can tell, I am very experienced with sinus and mucus issues, and I know how awful they can make you feel. Hope you feel better soon! Hugs and prayers!!!😊

Sas30, I'm having brain fog at this moment... What is ephedra? Does this tea have lemongrass in it? I'm allergic to lemongrass. Thanks!

Jun 22, 2016 10:56 AM

Ephedra is natural epinephrine. It can speed up the heart.
I don't think it has lemongrass in it but I'm not sure. I don't have any at the moment so I can't check.
You can find it in either the regular tea section or the health food section of most grocery stores.

I looked up the ingredients online and did not see lemongrass

Thank you! I'll look for it and give it a try. I love flavored teas & honey, or agave nectar. But I've found lemongrass in many. 🙂💕🙏🌼

You're welcome hon. If you drink it in hot and exhale quickly, you get a neat little feeling on the back of your soft pallet. 😇

What is a good over the counter eye drops for my eyes?

Jun 28, 2016 8:53 AM

I have asthma and have to be vigilant about avoiding mucus if at all possible. The number one thing that helped me was eliminating dairy from my diet. Dairy is extremely mucus forming. It not only causes new mucus, but it exacerbates existing problems. You don't have to have an allergy or sensitivity to dairy to see this result. I don't know why doctors never talk about it!
