Sjogrens or Fibromyalgia

Aug 11, 2015 11:57 AM

Saw my rheumy doc for follow up on Plaquenil & pain levels. I told her my low pain was now at a 3 and my worst days & flares had become farther apart. I also let her know of various joint stiffness, and how sometimes I couldn't tell if it was fibro of Sjogrens causing it. She examined all of my joints and said most likely the stiffness, tingling and stinging sensations, and flares are from the fibro, especially since I'm not on anything for it right now. She was pleased and said maybe Mayo can give us answers in September so I can restart the gabapentin for the fibro. She did say my weight gain was likely a side effect of all the meds combined, but since it's been a gradual gain of 30+ lb in 10 months she's not concerned it's going to keep climbing. She also said with the venous reflux was causing fluid retention, adding to the weight gain. And she suggested being conscious of portion size. A good visit I think! So now I'll try to stop worrying about my weight. 🙏🌼

Flappsy I know you are happy about your pain level staying around 3 now,but with the fluid retention it makes it hard has your Dr put you on a diuretic yet. I imagine that they told you to limit your salt or better yet no salt, if they did that's ok I have lived with limited salt for the last 30 yrs. There is so many things you can use for seasonings red and white wine, herbs, lemon juice, lime juce, and even use the skin off of them. It can turn into a fun journey learning new ways to cook your food. I have to have a diuretic with my blood pressure meds. I have a hard time myself telling if it's my Sringomyelia or Fibro

Flappsy, I am glad you had a good result at the Rheumy Doctor!! Hearing that your pain goes down to a 3 is wonderful and the fact she was able to tell you the other pain you're having is from the Finbro because you're not on any meds for it. I'll keep you in my prayers. Looks like it's going to be a positive experience with Mayo. I'm praying and pulling for you, my friend!! I'm glad you're getting progress with the doctors. You'll be in my prayers, as always.💕🙏🏻🌻

Weezie, I'm not on a diuretic and I'm already on a low salt diet. I wonder if this venous reflux is why my blood pressure has gone much lower than it was 5-6 years ago. I wish I had asked the doc yesterday. We've been using other ways of seasoning.

Speaking of food, it is just in our area of is everyone else getting bad looking fruits & vegetables from stores, which spoil much sooner than it should? They're either deformed of they have spots on them that start rotting from the inside out.

AlwayZ, I feel blessed that it's at a 3! But I wasn't aware that the fibro could flare throughout the day, which is what she said would likely happen if I overdo it. She said to try and balance at a happy medium. Now if I could just get the pelvic floor dysfunction where it needs to be I could go out in public without fear of an accident and humiliation!

Wishing and praying for everyone to have a peaceful sleep! 🙏🌼

Flappsy, I will pray that you are able to find that balance or some semblance of balance anyway. It would be a thrill to hear that you have your pelvic floor distinction under control. I hope that your night is peaceful and that you wake with low pain levels and a bright sunny day!! 💕🙏🏻🌻
