Sleep + pain

Sep 03, 2017 4:46 PM

Recently I have been having great trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep because of my pain. Does anyone have any suggestions of ways to deal-with /distract-from the pain. Or anything that might help me sleep. ♥️thank you

I don't really have any advice on the sleep side of things as I really struggle with that! But for distracting from pain I like to do adult colouring books and easy little sewing/craft projects. 😘

My new fibro medication knocks me out. It's called Gabapentin 300mg once at night. However, before I would try to watch a movie while laying in bed. Honesty, when it was really bad after taking my pain meds I would pray and rock until I fell asleep. When I hurt during the day I do the same. I go in my bedroom, turn down the blinds, make sure it's cool, and quite then take my pain meds and rock/pray until I fall asleep. I know this is not a solution but sometimes you can't distract yourself from the pain.

Have you tried medical marijuana?

Magnesium has really helped me with falling, and staying, asleep.

@MochaBarbee Yes! It works wonders! It takes care of pain that meds can't even do. There are also a lot of ways to ingest it like edibles (brownies, cookies etc.) :)

I use Trepiline at 7pm every night and it will keep me asleep. Adco-Zolpidem puts me asleep in 10mins! I also meditate and listen to sleeping music. Good luck, I really know the struggle! Xxx

Melatonin is a great thing to have on hand. Also lavender works great as well. I have a lavender wax warmer in my bedroom as well as lavender linen spray. When these do. Not work I have found that an Advil pm works wonders

That's not an option in my state @Coutney

Melatonin nightly for sure. I just started 5-HTP Which is supposed to help with pain, anxiety and sleeping among other things. It has only been two days so I’m hoping it will help. You need to check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
