Sleep study cpap insurance..

Jan 31, 2016 9:47 PM

So most of u remember my sleep study a while.back. went to the Dr appointment got all the findings. Genetic defect in my throat I had multiple waking events never stopped breathing so the Dr of course wanted me in a machine. He said himself that I was a mild case and the machine would help some..
So I wait and the cpap folks call Insurance will not pay for any part of the machine. Basically because I'm not far up enough on the scale to even need to be on it..
The nurse also said that with my numbers and my other issue that I would not feel any difference with the machine. So I oh so politely told her to keep her machine.. Lol I'm not spending 6,000 dollars for a machine that will not help..
Dr said he is not sure of what was waking me. I told him duh...it was the pain...but with all that I wonder if there could be another route to take. And I wonder what the insurance company is thinking. Do they really expect me to pay that much? Or do they think the Dr is just giving everyone a cpap machine.. Lol

I'm sorry Newfibrogirl. I don't think they even think about the cost to us with limitations of finances &/or insurance. Hugs, love, & prayers that something will work out for you. 🙂🙏💕🌼

Newfibrogirl, I'm sorry they won't cover any of it. I don't know how they expect people on a fixed income to get help with medical needs

LOL @ not sexy!! That's funny. I'm sure you didn't want it. I can't imagine how you sleep with it anyway. There are ways to file appeals and stuff so you actually COULD get it covered if you want to or really needed to. {{Hugs}}💕🙏🏻

Mine is called a VPAP. Started off with a setting of 4. Now I've also gone into central apnea, and settings are 13/18. Masks can be irritating unless you get a good fitting. I recently got a fitting because otherwise one might go flying out of the window in the middle of the 🌙. New one fits better than any since I first went on in 2004.

I tried to get a pretty feminine mask in pink. Guess what, the pink color is on the wrong side. I get gray instead. Wonder who designed it like that? Guess I should be ☺ that it fits and be satisfied. (lol)
