Sleep Study

Oct 18, 2014 4:31 PM

Has anyone had one of these? I'm scheduled for one on Tuesday night, and I'm curious if anyone has had positive results from taking one. I have Fibro, Lupus, and RA (the unholy trinity of pain & immune disorders).

I'm slated for one as well. I'm very interested to hear what you're finding out!

Just got back home from sleep study. They wired me up with 27 electrodes. I was not bad enough during sleep for them to put on CPAP mask, thank God. I only entered stage 4 sleep for a few minutes. which is the deepest, restorative sleep. This is typical foe Fibro patients, and one of the reasons we hurt all over. After they woke me up, they expected me to be ready to get in the car and drive home in less than 30 minutes with no coffee. Guess that don't understand chronic pain much. Glad docs will be reviewing the results.

yes, lbrav- I understand we only get maybe 1/4 the amount of restorative sleep than non- fibro peeps. it makes sense to me! I always feel like I am sleeping so lightly through the night. let us know what they find!

I had the study done where they wire you up and put the breathing and heart monitors on you. It turned out i have mild sleep apnea. I was looking into doing a more involved one. I would like to hear how yours goes

I had one in the UK set me up with a recording devise and wires etc to monitor. showed me how to place them and I took it home dropped it back off next day. they analysised the results and no sleep apnoea just restless.

I have had 3 sleep studies done and currently have a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. The tests are not bad depending on the type. The take home are the best since you can relax more in your own bed. The CPAP machine made a hugh improvement with my sleep.

They lent me a cpap machine for a week and it made it so hard for me to get to sleep that I woke up tired anyway. I'm not very good at going to sleep. I'm hoping to try it again when my anxiety is a bit better so i can fall asleep

It takes a while to get use to the cpap, but don't give up it actually gets better. I went through several different masks before finding one I like. So, if you are uncomfortable with one type ask to try another style. The nose mask doesn't feel like my face is being attack. I found myself pulling off the full mask and half mask in my sleep.
