Sleeping struggles

Apr 30, 2017 11:40 PM

Having a rough time tonight pain has been ever Increasing. Anxiety is higher, oddly enough I'm anxious about anxiety. Had a counselor session and she wants me to ask for Increased or additional anxiety meds. As well as better pain management.
What do you guys do to help u sleep or at least be relaxed especially during a flare. I'm having coping issues so all around just a mess.
I'm on Ambien but I'm at the max dose and it doesn't always work at the level. Some times benedryl helps but more likely then not, it not.. Gonna schedule an appointment with the doctor to address all these issue but til then need help getting through. Please any tips advice is welcome. Please..

Well not always right. Check with your doctor first!!! At times I have used Nite Quil ZZZ. But if your on Ambien. That could be bad. I can't take sleeping pills anymore because of drug interaction could cause death. But can take melatonin. Can check again with your doctor on that. One Of my favorite movies is Disney's Big Hero 6. I have it on my phone. I lay my phone face down plugged in and play it. I don't know Kind of feel safe with that movie. Strange I know. But it works. I'll post another item. I have not tried it and need to find it and get the app name and stuff for you.

There's a few apps but one is. Brain Waves - Binaural Beats. It can help sleep and relaxation. I have not tried it myself but intrested in it as well.

For what it is worth: Ambien didn't do a thing for me, nor the OTC melontonin...I got better results from 1mg ativan. I can half it if I want. My problem is Not only getting to sleep, but staying asleep. I also have ambient music off Pandora.

I know some people take kolonopin (sp?) or even valium to help them.
All my best to you Fibrogirl...hope you can find right combination for you.

If you can get the brand name, good for you. None of the generics work for me. What I found out is that all sleep meds stop working at some point due to tolerance. If I can afford some, I take it two days in a row and then stay off for three days then go back on again.

For me, the two nights of sleep out of week is better than merely tossing and turning all night, every night.

Ever had a sleep study?

For sleep apnea. I've had more than 1

Me too. They said everything was fine on the first one and then I insisted on a second one and they said I had sleep apnea. Never go into R.E.M. Sleep. Got a cpap machine and it has done wonders with the exhaustion.

I've had two sleep test.and my sleep was restless but not apena. I never stopped breathing. They found that my throat is smaller and thinner then it should be so I use a C pillow which holds my head and neck up. The Dr still wanted to give me a machine but my insurance would not pay for it. So they were asking 6,000 out of pocket. Of course I can't afford that.

I have to switch sleep RX around all the time. But recently I was a getting anxious for no apparent reason(usually too tired for that) But then I noticed that it was only when I took generic benadryl. So double check what days you take what & see if there's a correlation. Good luck

Thanks ..I have started a log trying to track all the little things I'm doing. I told the Dr I've been mixing and matching OTC meds he didn't really comment t but did of course change my meds. . My body has been through almost every cament of. Change I can imagine. I just didn't know how much more I can take.

Sleep disorder/apnea and CPAP here too. Amitriptyline was great for about a year...no luck with ambien or lunesta or melatonin either. Remeron (mirtazapine) worked for almost a year (but with weight gain). Using 1mg Ativan and .5 Flexiril now along with Young Living essential oils (Lavender and others). Want to try Valerian oil next. Also just started trying ASMR therapy on YouTube - actually working for me if you can get past the weirdness (don't watch - just listen) 😉 Take bed meds early, take Epsom salt and Lavender bath, no screens upbto 3 hrs bf bed, get a really good pillow and mattress topper; I preheat my pillow with heating pad for my neck/upper back. 😴
