Smashed finger advice

Aug 27, 2016 8:45 AM

Having conflicting views on how to treat my smashes finger. Of course I could and should probably let a Dr look at it I'm hoping I can care for it myself however it's been almost a week and the pain is still there in the finger and yu can see red spladders under the nail. She i touch the nail it feel as if it wants to or coutcome off. It does not move. But it's very painful when touched. I was told I may need to have it embalzies to get the blood from u feel the nail . I try to keep it uncovers at home as much as I can. It when I go out I'm afraid of. Bumping it and it hurting more.
Any advice or idea on which way I should go?

If its been almost a week you need to go to a doctor. If it is anything over 5 days and you still have pain and swelling you will likely need an x-ray etc.
Also a doctor may have to put your finger in a splint and/or remove the nail or keep it there with gauze and a dressing. Please see a doctor as soon as you can hun

Gentle hugs

Aww maan!! In Mexican culture they say to stick a needle in it but I never did. My nail is all croocked and am developing arthritis in it because I didn't know it was broken ≧﹏≦ so follow your gut.. It wouldn't hurt to have a Dr look at it. πŸ‘πŸ‘€

Hello sweetheart ⚘
Sounds like u need to bite the bullet sweetie... πŸ€— and go to the doctors office or ER. If there is a pressure build up beneith the nail itself... πŸ€”it may need lancing to allow the fluid to release, 🌹before the healing process can really take hold.πŸ€— This will also give u great relief too. 😚

Newfibrogirl let us know how it goes. I had smashed my finger with a hammer once helping my brother build something and the underneath of the nail was full of blood. I finally had to go and they took this little thing that was metal and pointy and it burned a small hole through the nail and all that blood came out and the pressure was gone. Unfortunately, I had broken the tip of my finger so I had to wear a splint. But, the pressure relief was pain relief. {{hugs}} πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š
