You might check in your area. May is also fibromyalgia month and it's lupus awareness month. In many areas they combine the two and have their March together. One year I made purple ribbons. Wrote fibromyalgia on one side and Awareness on the other. Then Bask in Ribbons donated a hundred of their taster spoons so I glued a spoon on each ribbon then sent them along with a note describing fibromyalgia to all my friends around the world and my Fibro Family.
You could take the time and write your representatives to explain how FMS affects you and why continued funding for research and hopefully a cure is so important.
If there is a health fair going on you could set up a booth. fMAware would gladly send you flyers to hand out that would help you educate others on this. I did that a few years. Had the flyers, had pens I ordered with the website for the group I managed at the time (no longer active) and had set out mints and an assortment of candies.
And if you are on any social media sites you can post an article, write your own message etc. to help educate anyone reading it So maybe they will have a better understanding.
Anything you can think of (within legal limits...lol) to help spread awareness is really what having an awareness month and day is about. Many of us couldn't do a March due to the limitations fibro places on us so I.am always looking for alternatives.
