So sick of nerve pain!!!!

Sep 30, 2016 10:27 PM

Honestly, it's just too much, the nerve pain is horrible. Pain management doctor keeps raising my lyrica dose and its not working, sounds silly but i feel like its making it worse.
My GP put me on palexia and thats not working either.
Is there anything ese that people take for nerve pain?
What do you take?

I take Gabapentin three times a day. 300 mg capsule. Does make you a little tired though. Also use a Neurostimulator TENS. Neurontin is another Nerve med.

You could ask about Elavil / Amitriptyline .
Elavil is an old antidepressant that seems to work pretty well on nerve pain and it makes most people sleepy, bonus when taking at night. The dosage is must smaller| than for depression, so you are not really feeling zombieish. It is worth trying. Nerve pain is miserable.

Hello hunni ⚘
Im on lyrica/pregabalin atm 🐫
I have also tried fluoxetine and duloxetine💊 which are old tricyclic antidepressants good for nerve pain... or i used to be on epilim chrono for nerve piain💊 and 💊gabapentin/neurontin which are all anti convulsants which dull the signals recieved from nerve pain. Hope this helps... good luck sweetie 🤗

Hello Mknight,
I agree with LMB I take Elavil with lyrica and the combination of the two don't take the pain away completely but it does help. Good luck! 😊

I am on the highest dose of lyrica and 50mg of elivil. Also I'm on the highest dose of pristiq. They all work very well for me. But I'm still in pain every day but it's easier to deal with. I also take excedrin, zanaflex, Motrin, naproxen, and ketorlac in different combinations depending on what hurts and how bad.
Figuring out what helps best is always a trial and error process. I also use heat, tens unit, daily stretches, walks, distraction, and ice packs. And CBT or DBT training has literally saved my life. Learning to control your thoughts instead of them controlling you is amazing.
Just know it's not all in your head and sometimes nothing is going to help. We are here for you and understand what you are going through. Lots of hugs 🌄

I'm taking a combination of lyrica and cymballta with nortriptylin at night and tramadol for breakthrough with Tylenol arthritis with the tramadol.

Lyrica worked well for me. Amitriptyline is very similar. I had terrible side effects from the gabapentin. I'm also on Cymbalta which seems to be ok with no real side effects. Nothing ever takes the pain away though. :( hang in there. It sucks.
