Yes, SS Disability is considered income and can make you ineligible for Medicade. The silver lining is that you should be eligible for Medicare very soon (eligible after 3 years on SSDisability). Medicare is lots better than Medicade. Can you get a policy through the affordable care act for the short gap?

Low. Did you go in front of an administrative judge? How was that? I'm waiting for my hearing.

No, I got SS DIsability on my first application.

The addition of Medicare to SSD is standard procedure.

When you get approved for SS Disability, in the insurance world, that is considered what they call a qualifying event. It makes you eligible for Medicare. If you make more than a certain dollar amount for your household, and do not qualify for Medicaid, there are still several programs available through the Federal and State Government agencies that help you save money (whether it be for your premium, your co-pays, etc). Just go onto www.medicare.gov and check your jurisdiction for available programs. The problem for most is getting approved for your disability to begin with. Hope this little tidbit of info is helpful. Have a great day.

I just loaded this app & I'm wading through trying tho figure out how it all works. Not sure if I should post a new "topic" but, since it's the same subject....

The app looks real beneficial, if for no other reason than support from ppl who understand 24/7 pain.

@LoisB was your application to SS special cicumstances? I'm trying to figure the best way of going about filing besides the obvious, I should have filed a long time ago! I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia almost 10 yrs ago. I've been under the care of a physician since then. I do have additional issues that are inoperable so I was pushed off to pain management who ran out of options for me and handed me off to my primary care doc because they knew each other and all that pain mgmt was doing was having me come in to pick up scripts. I'm just not sure what to do. Any advice, from anyone, is greatly appreciated!!!

Wow. A Rheumatologist that can't help. That's crazy.
Has anyone applied and gotten approved with 'just' fibromyalgia? I say just because I've heard some horror stories.
Hearings for appeals or to see if you qualify at all?

That is awesome!! I'm really happy for you!!!
I went to my doc today as well! Lol
She flat out told me, "it's time. You've been unemployed because of well documented conditions. File for disability. Suck it up and get off your pride horse!" she said that she will start on the ' better' documentation of all my conditions that will secure an approval. Hopefully the 1st time but not to get my hopes up. I don't know if I should be happy or sad. Ah well...
