Sore, painful, popping joints?

Apr 29, 2016 9:13 PM

What could it be? My knees and shoulders especially hurt.

Apr 29, 2016 10:02 PM

Are they swollen and/or warm? If so maybe it's Arthritis. I have it and my knees popped for months before I asked a doc about it. Xrays confirmed it.

Not swollen that I can tell, and they don't feel warm:o is it normal for someone in their early 20s to have popping joints?

Frailfairy, you need to actually go to the doctor and let him/her know that you are experiencing popping/painful joints. They will run blood tests and do X-rays and then if necessary send you to a neurologist and/or rheumatologist. I hope that you are able to find the cause of your pain and popping joints. {{{Hugs}}} πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

I have painful popping joints/spine been going on for as long as I can remember. I found out i have arthritis in my spine but most of it, like everything else, they blame on fibromyalgia

I have painful popping joints. For me it's arthritis caused by lupus. I'd suggest what the other ladies said get to a doctor. Don't let me the docs explain it away. They very well may try.

They say all my pain is from nerve pain because I have a neurological disorder. But that doesn't make sense to me? It's not the same pain as the tumors on my nerves, it feels like they're popping out of place:(

I went to doctors with joint pain, they pop and crack and go out of place and are allaying painful and they ran blood tests for arthritis and because it came back clear I was apparently fine and would just calcify as I got older. Just a warning that they may tell you that there's nothing wrong and to just ride it out but you should press on and get to the bottom of what it isπŸ’–

That sounds unpleasant. If you see a dr, they usually check for injury and inflammatory conditions initially. If you've already tried that, it might take a lot of persistence to get listened too. Good luck πŸ‘ πŸ’•
I have pain at and around my joints because of hypermobility (possibly made worse due also having a neurological condition causing chronic pain). It took years to figure out because I kept getting sent to physiotherapy to address one or two joints at a time +/- strong NSAIDs.

I was just diagnosed with EDS. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Hypermobility type. You might want to Google that. It is a co-morbidity of fibromyalgia. My pain specialist said sometimes people with EDS are misdiagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

My painful popping joints are from EDS Hyper-mobility. This has caused early osteoarthritis. My knees are bone on bone with bone spurs. I have bone spurs everywhere. When I was in my late teens early 20s I developed heel spurs, now in my 40s the spurs have turned so they no longer face down, but towards the front of my foot and no longer hurt to walk on them. The bone spurs on the back of my knee cap make my knee catch and snap and pop when I walk. The bone spur on my ankle makes it feel like someone is stabbing me in that ankle when I walk with shoes on. If I try to walk without shoes on then my feet collapse and cause pain all the way up to my lower back.

OMG!!! ScaryAnn, I have the same thing... I can sure sympathize with that. I stand up and I sound like rice crispies with the milk just poured on them.. Snap, crackle, POP!! No fun.. πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»πŸ˜Š

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Time to insist on some imaging studies!

Shammagren, I would like to know How did you get a diagnose of arthritis? I'm having severe pain in mid back and my neurologist can't figure out why. My file simply state that I have chronic pain. I crackle and pop around my body especially ankles, knees and wrist. There are no signs of swollen joints as such.

The spasming in my mid back is causing me the most grief. Most days my medications aren't helping much now, maybe I've been on my opioids meds for over a year without any increase in dosage is making me feel worse? So lost still. Sigh.

Octobot my xray and mri's showed it. Degenerative disc disease and degenerative invertebral disc are osteoarthritis of the spine.

May 13, 2016 12:21 PM

Shammagren, I am sorry that you were given these diagnosis. I too have the same things. It's gotten so bad after over 23 years that I'm done with most everything. I do have days that I function better than others but I mostly stay home and have become a bit more than a bit isolated. Please don't let that happen to you. Life is too precious and too fleeting to let it pass you by. {{{Hugs}}}πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»
