I've been in, and am still in extreme pain and haven't been able to get on here. My pain is either originating from the top of my iliac crest and radiating to my left hip and to my back at L-4/5 and down to my tailbone or it's the other way around. I'm not sure. I also have a bone spur on the inside of my left thumb joint which radiates pain to my wrist, and of course...I'm a lefty. It's been hard to write because I'm having to use my phone. I'm thinking I may need to go to the ER and at least get it looked at. I am going to call my PCP (primary care provider) and get them to fax a referral to the orthopedic Dr. Hell, maybe it's my bed. Who knows. Well, that's my bitch fest for the day. Thanks for being there. It really does help to know that you guys are there whenever I need y'all. It's hard doing this alone.
Sorry you have been struggling so badly. How ever I'm glad you are back. It's good you have found the motivation to to check in and let us know how you are. You are our thoughts. Continue to get some rest and let your body heal.
Thanks. I'm trying to gather enough strngth to just put on some clean lounge wear. I'll have to call EMS to take me to the ER cause I know I can't drive. I'm also waiting for the Dr office to open so I can let them know I'm going.
Is it possible to get a home health care nurse to come and help you. I know you have to get a Dr to procribe it for you so your insurance will pay for it. My dad uses one since he has two types of cancer so now when he has a situation that would normally require going to the Dr or even if he needs blood drawn. The nurse or therapist will come to the house and look after him. So he does not have to move around town so much. They even come on weekends if you need them. It's been a great asset for us and him.
They are doing the assessment the last week of November. I live with my youngest son but he works 10 hrs a day : 2-11. He does the dishes and vacuuming, but when it comes to helping me physically, he doesn't do it. I think it is because He and his brother helped me takeworkers comp of his dad. He was 14 when his dad was hurt for the last time ( there were three other times). He was a Federal Agent. He was paralyzed from the waist down, but his arms were extremely weak. He herniated the disc at c-3/4. Federal workers compensation decided to wait on surgery, they had already paid for 4. They figured it would be less expensive for them to wait until he died and then pay his life insurance than pay for another surgery. Oops sorry, went off on my rant against the federal workers compensation system. What I was getting at is when his disc ruptured and he quit breathing, my kids stood and watched as I did rescue breathing until the ambulance got there. It scarred him for life and I think he just refuses to see me the way I am now. I think in his mind, I'm still the mom who can do anything.
I'm sorry you had to endure that in your life. However I think your right . I know parents don't like to see the children hurting but as a child of a parent who is very ill I can say when I see my dad who was n always around for me and worked his whole life but to see him now so weak and needing help and for me to be physically unable to help him. It's hard to see. Which is why I'm so thankful for the home health team. They are great because when they come in they don't jsut work with my dad. They help the whole family. Even if its just advice or to be a soi ding board. I really hope you can get that service .
I'm already approved. They are just song the final assessment so when I move on the 1st I'll have it all set up. My son lives on the 2nd floor. Can you just imagine what it takes to get me up and down the stairs? It takes forever and my butt is getting sore getting up the stairs. Going down, I have him walk in front of me and I hang on for dear life and do one step at a time. It can take 5 min for me to get down. I usually have to sit and rest at the landing.
Wow.. I can understand how hard it is. It's bad enough to be in pain but to have to struggling just to get around your own house. Have u considered getting a chair lift for your stairs? That might help plus get you more Independence.
We are in an apartment. I'm moving to a extended stay complex until I get my teeth done, and my meds leveled off. My oldest son wants me down there with him. I'm going to have to give him my medical power of attorney at some point sooner rather than later because of the MS, and eventually I will have to give him full power of attorney. So I will be going down there in about 2 months.
I'm having a problem with giving power of attorney. Not legally but emotionally.. My doctor gave me the forms I've filled them out but I've not turned then in yet. I'm not sure why I'm hesitating. Actually inve already seen the need for it. My last surgery that imbheasling from now. Once they opened me up and saw what all was going on and found a whole lot more tumors then they thought . the Dr needed to do a different type of surgery then we started off doing but because she did not have the permission to ask family what to do she had to leave the other worse tumors inside and now we or I have to endure a treatment plus another surgery. But even with that it scares me to think of giving the power over my life to someone else.. Sorry I kind of rambled on.. However I'm hoping you get into a settled environment soon so you can focus on healing and getting a better life going.
Cearea, I'm so sorry I'm just getting caught up. I wasn't on this weekend much. I oppose by now you've been able to receive the treatment and pain relief you needed. (((Hugs))) & know I'm with you in heart and prayers! 🙏🌼
I'm finally home. It is 11:15 p.m. It was a very long, painful day. They did get the pain under control after 4 injections of morphine 4 mg each, I shot of torodol, and a mg of xanax. I bruised my iliac crest, my hip and sprained my back muscles. Will update more tomorrow. I'm falling asleep. Thanks
Yes! Every single time I told them the pain wasn't coming down, they gave me another shot. 4 shots of morphine and 1 of toradol. The toradol they gave when I got into a room then followed it with morphine in the other butt cheek. They even have me xanax to relax me because I had to wait so long. Next time, I'll just remember to take my meds with me. I was in so much pain I just forgot them yesterday.
