It's been a long week. Joyfully had our granddaughter three days, and she was such a doll. Took her to see her great-grandparents overnight. They enjoyed it so much. She talked atop about it to her mom! But sadly my hubby and I could see a drastic mental change in my dad (Alzheimer's). He has an appt today about his knee and hip joints. I saw the xrays, and its bone on bone; no wonder he hurts to walk. I'm scared if they do surgery and sedate him, he'll suffer cognitive disruption again and it will rapidly cause Alzheimer's digression. On top of that I haven't felt good since I got the flu shot 2 weeks ago. And my sciatica is acting up after the 3 hour ride in my car. Trying to convince my hubby to trade... Lol. So I've between lazing around, trying not to get any sicker; congested and sweats/chills. But mentally I'm gold! πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Flappsy, you're always gold in my book!! I'm sorry to hear what's happening with your Dad. It's so hard to watch your parents decline when they were a pillar of strength when you were young. I'll pray for him that all works out and that anesthesia doesn't cause further disruption to his mind. I know many people who get ill after a flu shot. My sister got a cold, then my Dad, my older Sister and her kids and then.. BAM!! I got it.. Oh happy day. Not! At any rate, I hope you get better fast and that you regain some strength that this is taking from you. I'm happy you enjoyed your Granddaughter. These times will live forever in all of your hearts.πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»

One really sweet moment was when my dad patted his lap for my dog to jump up and Bear did. My dad grabbed him up and hugged him like you would a child and said, "You're a good boy. I use love you!". I'm talking about a man who for most of my 53 years said dogs belong in the yard and you can't treat them like people. Lol It showed how much he's changed. Of course everyone in my family is fighting over who gets bear if I die!!! 😨 I think it's funny! πŸ™πŸŒΌ

End all the arguing now, Flappsy. Just send him to me!!!! πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ˜˜

Don't be sorry! So happy you're here, Salty! It's awesome to see someone excited about this group. You aren't being nosey! You're being helpful and is rates high in my book! :) πŸ˜ŽπŸŒΌπŸ’–

I'm back and can totally recommend the intern. He reminds me so much of my grandad it's unbelievable. Sorry to hear about your Dad Flappy. Sounds like he is a good guy and shit always happens to the good. Hopefully they can do something for his hip and knee without surgery. Or possibly do surgery whilst he's awake. They can do brain surgery whilst your awake so hey why not. I can't do much for you sciatica or they crap you feel after your flu shot. But think this I get my shot on the 5th November. Whilst I'm ill you'll be better lol. As for your granddaughter I bet she put a few springs in your steps. I love kids and help look after my friends two that I live with and another friends two and take them all to school a couple of times a week. The 5 year old still promises to marry me when he's bigger. But for now I'm too old lol. Take care of yourselves x

AlwayZ, I'd cry from loneliness! 😭

Oct 09, 2015 12:32 PM

What dog do you have? We have 5. Two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, an American Bulldog, a black Labrador and a Shih Tzu. All keep us busy or just sleep when we do.

Oct 09, 2015 12:38 PM

And I'm sorry to hear about your father as well. Sorry for you having to watch that. I am having to watch it my father.

But my grandfather has got lots of awesome stories. I need to give him a call this afternoon after supper. He's in the hospital in South Carolina where all the flooding is and my mom and i can't even drive out to see him or fly (I hate to fly but would have made the concessions and sacrificed my health to see my grandfather cancelled/rescheduled my surgery just to see him). He's got a really bad case of bronchitis. And of course it was funny because we were both having coughing fits around the same time on the phone. (funny/not funny).

I'm worried because I get these feelings and I've had one about my grandpa for months.

I'm glad your dad is loving up on Bear. Bear sounds life am awesome dog. We had a cat, Tiger, who turned my dad into a cat lover.

ADDgirl.. Should have been my handle lol instead of kitty26 lol!
Big hugs

We have a Jackapoo, or so they said. My hubby thinks he's a cockapoo. Here's definitely got poodle in him, he's stubborn and demanding. Lol but he's so loveable, I overlook his not so good traits. We're talking about getting him a playmate, a yorkie is likely. We've lost 2 yorkies, at different times and are just partial to them. We've also talked about a golden doodle. It has to be asthma and allergy friendly. I use to have cats and love them, but they're an asthma trigger now. πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Sadly that's awesome! I love dogs but am especially beholden to kitties. My parents have a lab and a Catahoula/blood hound, awesome dogs. And my boyfriend and i habe a gorgeous girl, chaweenie named Pixie. She's 12 and just so awesome. She and our youngest cat play together. And then we have two other cats, two tabbies and my black cat that lived with me for the last 15 years decided she loved my parents house more and so she's readopted her birth home (we did animal rescue on a large scale when i was in high school.... Or rather my parents let me do it and they helped when i needed it. Lol. Those cats literally saved my life & continue to).

I would die of loneliness without my fur babies, too!

Oct 09, 2015 12:46 PM

My sister has to yorkies and she also has asthma. My mum has bichons and they are fine too. Bear does sound fab. Teddie our shih tzu is a little bugger. He steals and looks so innocent doing it. My knitting has never been the same. And he stole a whole bottle of juice yesterday. When I confronted him he was like, what it was on the floor. But he cracks us up.

Oct 09, 2015 12:47 PM

Glad you can still enjoy dogs, Flappys!

Ironically enough i find out i am dearly allergic to the ingredients in the cats good so I'm desperately seeking food that they'll eat that won't make my face swell and lips and tongue. (I have a drooler who has been abandoned and abused before she came to me. To get over a year to be her loving self but she's still a pain in the butt sometimes. I call her my special needs cat. Lol.

Oct 09, 2015 12:49 PM

Our chaweenie will stand on her back legs and get something out the garbage. This week it was a lasagna container from frozen dinner and she'd hidden it beneath the bed for days! She's a little ham and such a mess bit we love her to bits.

Oct 09, 2015 12:54 PM

Teddie will stand on his back legs to steal off the table right in front of us. He then sneaks it under the table ti his bed. We only realise when we hear his lips smacking lol

Oct 09, 2015 12:57 PM

Hahaha! Pixie is just like that!

I think our pets are gifts from God to make our lives more enjoyable. πŸ™πŸŒΌ

I could not agree more!

Oct 09, 2015 7:00 PM

I hear that Flappsy!!! I couldn't even imagine.
Sally, we have two dogs (a bullmastiff that is 145 pounds and a rescue puggle that is about 25 pounds). I also have a 1.5 year old ferret named Mischief. She's all mine and lives upstairs with my and has a twelve foot round playpen that she is in and running around. She's cute and her antics make me laugh...

Oct 09, 2015 7:16 PM

We love animals we have had seve TS al rescues that had been thrown out at our house. The latest was a kitten my husband wanted me to take him to the animal shelter because he is allergic to cats. I told him I was keeping him,and he would be an outside cat I had him fixed so he wouldn't wonder off he is a good mouser. We also have 7 dogs. My baby is a Dorkie she is 5 years old and spoilt rotten she will stand up and wave to get attention, she loves belly rubs and sleeps on her back with her head on my pillow.

Oct 09, 2015 7:23 PM

I love that you have a ferret named Mischief. Several years ago, when I lived 50% of the time with my mom, we had 2 ferrets. My family loved them so much. They were a pair, skinny (Skittle) and Fatty (Mac). At first, they'd nap in their hammocks, then somehow get out of the cage we originally had. So, we let them take over our bathroom, and run around our house when we got home from school. I loved them.
Eventually we had to move. This is where there's a strange coincidence. Anyway, we meet a bunch of people trying to find someone who'd give them all the love they could. We finally found a family, and they left. My sister and I cried.
That night, I had a dream. We went to the house filed with ferrets, trying to find a best friend. The first room had a bunch of large ferrets lounging around, and we eventually found this ferret, with coloring starting a chocolate brown, and fading to a creamy tan. Her name was midnight.
I don't know why, but every time you mention ferrets I think of the series of dreams I had, about Skinny, Fatty, and Midnight. It made me smile. So thanks. πŸ’•πŸ˜πŸ˜†

I just love those dreams! I have had dreams about my kitty Merlot who left this earth before I was ready. See we've always had cats love to be in their teens or even our oldest was my first cat, Peppermint, who lived to be 6 weeks away from her 23rd birthday.

Those dreams that i have of Merlot and Peppermint and Dawg always make me smile. Watch tonight I'm gong ti stream about the whole crew (we have had a large number of animals through our home, finding good homes for them not for nefarious reasons :P. And I love those dreams that show me they're at peace.

Some people might find this weird but when my animals are hungry and I'm ignoring them to sleep because I'm sick (they don't starve trust me one is nicknamed Belly for a reason) but i will start dreaming of feeding them cat food and i won't stop dreaming the dream til i wake up and feed the little rascals lol.
