What do u guys do when u have muscle spasms? I've had a few small ones in the last but currently I'm.being shocks by spasms. AMD its hurting so bad I tried treating it like a Charley horse but itonmy makes it worse . help.

For me Zanaflex works best at nightime.
Is it the 'electric shock' type that seem to jolt your whole body? Not sure what can stop those, I've been told those can be caused by other meds you're taking. My wife hates those because I wake her up randomly every time I get one.
Ask your doc about trying the Z.

When I was on gabapentin and then again on elevil, both were being used to help with nerve pain. Things got odd and I would jerk really hard when I was trying to fall asleep. The doctor thought I was nuts. Needless to say as the gabapentin dose increased the jerk in became more often, I no longer take either. I have added a few good supplements like Magnesium, calcium, zinc, co-q 10 and b-12 all help me greatly with both nerve and muscle pain.

Thanks..guys..inot on any of those meds but I'll ask about the Z . I've noticed my jerking is increasing but I've not noticed a pattern of. Anything yet.

I get wicked spasms in my back and often. I haven't really found anything that helps. I've used prescription muscle relaxants, naproxin, and perc. To no avail. I just have to wait them out. Sometimes they last for weeks, sometimes a day or two. Putting some heat helps a little. Wish I could be more help but I don't answers either.

It's been moslty In my legs and in my abdomen. It's almost like I'm pregnant and the baby is kicking. Trust I'm.not.. I'm pregnant with tumors .so I get concerned that maybe they are moving kr growing. But I try to not think on that. But the spams in my calfs and hips and my arm tend to tense us and tremble. As of now I just wait it out. Since if I get up I'll fall. I've had spams that have caused me to trip or fall before. I just don't know how.to deal with it other then adapt. Like use a chair in public just in case I get an episode and fall. And it's been mentioned before about me getting a cane and I've dismissed it. But I'm thinking more and more on it.

Yes..I feel I am. I drink green tea and water and I do detox every three tonfour weeks

Are your kidneys good? Kidney issues can cause spasms too.

Diazepam is the only thing that eases my spasms. I am in the uk so I'm not sure what it is called over there. Naproxen helps a little but not much. Mind you, I just knock myself out with a cocktail of diazepam and codeine so maybe it only works because I'm asleep 😂. I hope you find some relief soon x

Hmm well I'm hoping they r good. I honestly don't know. I've had a few infections a few months ago but I think it all cleared up. But I'm going to the Dr In a few weeks so I'll ask him bout. It.

I Live with daily spasms in my legs, back and arms, I have to get them worked out by my Carers. They do a series of massages and muscle tapping to encourage the spasms to come out fully. But for me it may be different to yours, as I'm in a powerchair all day and I'm quadriplegic the muscle just do that pretty much as a given.

What I have been doing (and I am also on gabapentin) is basically the same as LBM... Increase Magnesium , D-3, B-12, B-6, folic acid (works with b vitamins), warm compress' and warm baths/ showers, nettle tea , lemongrass tea, and lean animal protiens. I prefer chicken. However this may not work for everyone depending upon your vit. levels. I have to have them checked every 6months to make sure that I am properly absorbing it all correctly . Sometimes shots work better for some... You can always ask your GP to do a test to see if any levels are low.

I have hynocogic jerks as I'm trying to fail asleep, and nothing stops them. But it seems the more stressed I am when I lay down, the more they occur.

My RLS and nocturnal cramps aren't so bad with the gabapentin. I do use Voltaren gel to massage into the calves. I'll be using it tonight due to my overly zealous PT therapist! Lol. 🙂💕🙏🌼

Sparkyinfla, would you mind telling me more about Zanaflex? My doc is recommending it. I don't have spasms, more tension. He says it can also enhance narcotics making you need less of them. My big concern is that it seems Zanaflex makes people tired and loopy. I need something I can use day and night and be functional. I'm working and in school (sorta...not doing so well balancing both but DON'T want to quit!!) thanks!!

Newfibrogirl- potassium supplements really help me with spasms when I get them. I take a supplement most days because it seems to help...

I usually take about 6 to 10 showers a day or bath depending on my pain level I try to stay away from using medication but on certain days the pain is so intense I have to use medication so what I do is also I will take my headphones and use the YouTube app on my phone after taking a hot bath or shower lay on my bed or go somewhere very relaxing where I don't get distracted and I listen to Louise Hays meditation there's one on there that's called 40 minutes to change your life plus others that are for healing for Pain she's absolutely amazing she's been around since the 70's so my advice is to give that a try but everybody is different and keep in mind everyday is different some days certain techniques work and some days certain techniques do not you have to find a multiple amount of techniques just to get through the weeks and on certain days use those techniques I've been dealing with chronic pain for over 2 years now after a head on collision and I'm still not getting proper treatment I have been treating myself and dealing with my own pain in my own way if you need any support or any advice just shoot me a message I hope that this helps for you to
