Spinal Cord Stimulation

Jan 06, 2017 12:42 AM

Anyone have or know about spinal cord stimulation? What are the pros and cons - it seems better than the issues I have with opioids. I read Boston Scientific has the best device but a new company Nevro is making improvements.

Welcome your thoughts.

I have an older one by Medtronics. It helped me for about a year. Am considering having it replaced with one from another company but it's major surgery.. That part I am not looking forward to. :/ if given the option I would definitely do it again.

Bakrrr, I have one and had it revised 5 times. It was wonderful while it worked and after I have cervical surgery, I will be getting another one (double leads for my thoracic and cervical spine). If you click on the magnifying glass and put in spinal cord stimulators there are several threads there for you to read through and get several opinions and experiences to help you answer questions you may have. Hope this helps you.

I'm getting one in February. It will be a medtronics, But I also have a pacemaker that is a St Judes. They need a rep from each company to be in surgery so they can get each pacemaker to not screw each other up. But I've heard good things about the stimulator. I've only hear one bad thing.

Any reason you selected Medtronic? They tend to be more available in Europe and Australia

Bakerrr, my neurostimulators have all been Medtronic. I had it revised 5 times and need to have major cervical surgery so that I can get yet another one. Difference being that this time it will be a dual lead (cervical and thoracic) hoping to get some relief
