Nov 11, 2015 5:15 PM

Afternoon all. Hope u had a low pain day.I waswondering if any of u ever experienced spontaneous sweating? I have it often sometimes it happens just before extreme pain hits. And sometimes it just happens I could be feeling cold but tonloo at me I'm covered in sweat. Has anyone ever had this happen if so what is it and what can I do about it.

I have this happen a lot. It also happened a lot in my sleep and I would wake up soaking wet. If I am hurting I often sweat first as well. My doctor treated it first with clonidine which didn't seem to do anything. Then switched to oxybutin, which is usually used for urinary incontinence. That has helped a lot tho I do still occasionally wake up sweating or have other spontaneous sweating.

@ amazingm911...What did he say was causing it?

Nov 11, 2015 5:32 PM

My doctor says it is common with both anxiety and thyroid problems but also with fibro. In my car she believes it is the fibro.

Nov 11, 2015 5:48 PM

Oh OK.. I have two of the three u mentioned. Il have to speak with my doctor bout this because its getting old .along with all the other health issues . ha...

New, I'm also dealing with the excessive sweats, but no thyroid or fibro issues. Yes, I can also be freezing cold and have the sweats. The doc has sort of attributed mine to the beginning stages of menopause(yay, hopefully). If I'm out in public and it happens, most embarrassing. Have to go immediately and stick my head in the freezer and that stops it for some odd reason.

Mine coudl be from a number of reasons. Right now I'm just diagnosis my self. Just trying to figure it out its frustrating to seeming get rid of one problem just to have another reer its head. I am having issues with tumors and right now they r in and around my uterus and near my tailbone and bladder. But I also have hypoglycemia ,hypothyroidism, and fibromayalgia . along with possible Lupus. But when I have my sweat attacks its hard to hide. I normally sweat through my close in matter of minutes. But like with dealing with fibromayalgia I suppose I'm gonna have to just find a way deal with it as part of my life.

New, I do understand. Can sweat through a shirt and deodorant in 5 minutes.

Nov 11, 2015 9:54 PM

That happens when I get a heat flash. I also just sweat a lot, but it seems to go with my hypothyroidism, so thyroid meds have reduced the sweating

Nov 11, 2015 10:06 PM

Yes, I have that happen a lot. I also am dealing with menopause so between the regular hot flashes and the sweating from pain and anxiety, it becomes very draining. Hang in there. Sending {{{Hugs}}} and prayers that you get some rest and tomorrow brings a better day with less pain. 💕🙏🏻🌻😊

I have sweated all my life, and it is embarrassing. I can't stand it either. I have hypothyroidism, diabetes 2, fibromyalgia and migraines. My fibro went into remission until I missed a step going down my porch steps. I guess it caused my fibro to start back up with a vengeance. I don't take anything for treatment as I fall through the medical field cracks . No health insurance. My life is one moment at a time. So days I can't move my hands...pain is excruciating. I am tired of dealing with this. I am constantly praying for healing. Bless you all. Xxxs & ooos

Hypothyroidism, overexertion & hot flashes! Dress in layers, so you can shed or are as nerves. 🙏🌼

Okay new, I just read through your comment again. When you said the rumors are near your uterus, have you checked with your gyn to see if the sweats could be tied to the tutors? Just a thought.

Nov 12, 2015 12:03 PM

I have not mentioned the sweats to her just yet however it is a thought I had a few days ago. Im also on a lot of new medication. But the sweating has been happening for a while now before I was on the medicine

Nov 12, 2015 12:12 PM

My sweating is definitely anxiety driven (my anxiety can be pain driven and knowing pain is coming is likely to cause anxiety). Is it stinky sweat you get rather than the more sweet smelling hot/exertion sweat?

Nov 12, 2015 1:48 PM

@ fontalamh its more of a cold sweat. It mostly a surprise its random. Although I've noted that it happens just before instatrt having severe pain. Or if I've gone past a dose of pain meds. As well as on days I try to add an activity to my day

Nov 12, 2015 2:27 PM

New, when I started having them severely in mid-June, I did bring it to my gyns attention but he just looked at me like I was crazy. So I don't know what else to tell you.

Nov 12, 2015 7:17 PM

Oops, "are as nerves" = "add as needed"

Nov 12, 2015 10:29 PM

I have it as well, but mine has no scent and is usually associated with pain. I don't feel hot, usually cold actually and will break out in a sweat and then the pain will hit hard. 😢

Nov 12, 2015 10:45 PM

Serenasills. That's exactly how mine wworks..has your Dr given it a name

Nov 12, 2015 10:46 PM

No, I haven't mentioned it. I just associated it with pain and fibro.

Nov 12, 2015 10:51 PM

Me too..I just try to deal with it but it would be nice to be able to control it

Nov 16, 2015 12:44 AM

I'll get spontaneous sweating and shaking both before and during a particularly bad pain hits. For the past hour I've been lying drenched in sweat and failing to sleep.
