Steriod Epidural

Feb 07, 2016 10:59 PM

I get a steriod epidural for a mid back slipped disc which is probably child's play for some of you. What am I to expect when I get to the doctors?

They are not fda approved, just a warning and the people I know say most of the time the one giving the shot misses the nerve andif they get the right one then only about 3 week relief.

My other half has had several. The first one worked for two years, since then they haven't worked for longer than a month.

I've had 3 injections for sciatic pain. The first 2 were great and lasted around 3 months. The last one though had no effect.

Emily4851, I've had the epidural steroid injx (ESI's) at multiple levels of my spine. My doctor does them in a series of three injx, 4-8 weeks apart, for each level. I had them in 2014 & 2014 for my neck (headaches), thoracic (bulge & tear), & lumbosacral (sciatic pain & bad discs). The first injx lasted only the 4 weeks, the second injx about 6 weeks, and the third injx are still holding well in my thoracic spine. I treated having headaches & sciatica again in August 2015, but still only randomly. I'm waiting to get back in with my doc. BTW, I get sedated to have them done, and use ice (20 min on/20 min off) the first 48 hours. I wish you the best results, and will be praying for you. Hugs! 🙂🙏💕🌼

I would reccomend going to a stem cell doc and getting prp. Plasma rich injections.
