Stomach muscles hurt in AM

Jan 03, 2015 8:25 AM

Anyone's abs hurt in the morning after a long sleep? This doesn't happen to me every morning, but if I've been asleep or laying down for a while, they cramp up. Stretching doesn't help.

Only when my IBS is acting up, or if I walked too my much the day before. I have pelvic congestion, over engorged pelvic veins. They blocked off with 11 titanium coils, and although it helped, being on my feet too much causes pain and crampy feelings.

My abs hurt all the time, I couldn't tell you if it's worse in the morning or not. Intermittently my obliques are hurting too. My doctor says it's because the different muscle groups are working overtime to support my spine which is not in good shape. It feels like I've worked out too much which at this point is just a faint memory. I'm wiped out after going grocery shopping. It's a sad state of affairs 😥

My pain is harder to deal with in the morning. I don't think it has anything to do with more pain being presIent when I wake. I think that it simply bothers me more because I was asleep & had SOME relief so that I slept but then I wake up & BAM! There's the pain.

Jaynanne, I can't say for sure why you feel more pain in the morning but this is what I think is my problem. Your pain might actually be related to something or maybe it's just your pain meds having left your system overnight. Good luck - I hope you find your answer.

Yes if I sleep on my side/ front which I try to avoid doing now. I find if I can sleep on my back for a month or two, that pain goes down significantly, but it shoots back up to horrific if I just sleep on my side for even a couple of hours. Do you sleep on your side?
