Strange question

Jan 20, 2018 4:38 PM

Suddenly I noticed how bad I sweat? It’s freezing cold and I got sweat patches on my clothes and it’s embarrassing and worrying about smelling bad coz I also know I do.. does anyone else have the same problem?

Jan 20, 2018 4:55 PM

Yes, definitely! I sweat so bad especially when pain is worse, at night and after i take pain meds.

Ok so it’s definitely the condition then. I stopped taking any pain killers for a while but was still sweating and I only noticed it in the past year always feeling hot when it’s freezing cold.. I wish there was something that can be done apart from spraying it myself but still feel like people will smell me and be annoyed..

I don't what your conditions are, but excessive sweating and heat insensitivity can occur with Fibromyalgia.

I am completely with you! I wish there was a way to stop it. Everyone else will be cold and I'm hot and even sweating most times. It's my head and neck that sweat the most and i wake up drenched around my neck. It drives me nuts and is super embarrassing. I've also noticed that when my pain is really bad I'll drip sweat from my head. It's so strange. I've brought it up to my docs and they all say it's typical in pain patients, whatever comfort that's suppossed to bring me 😒

Excessive sweating or bothersome sweating is called hyperhidrosis. It can be a condition of its own or part of another condition such as a pain syndrome. If it troubles you there are treatments for it and I can give you details on that. Some are expensive whilst others are relatively cheap. I have hyperhidrosis myself but nothing can be done about it yet. In my case it causes me to sweat throughout the night even when it's cold and it also causes sweat patches on the underarms and socks. Let me know if I can help with more info or advice on self-management or treatment options :)

Hi yes I would be grateful to learn if there is any treatment for it.. I was planning to go to the doctors this week. Thank you so much again

This happens to me often, it does not seem to be affected by my pain level though. I will do it with really high levels, but I've also done it with relatively low levels for me. It leaves patches under my arms and my socks sometimes soaked. It's very embarrassing I agree, and I'm planning on bringing it up when I see the rheumatologist soon!! Good luck!

Sweat maybe... I use deodorant spray. It will keep you dry. Crotch area stomach line under arms under bra area ever can use on crack😉

Menopause isn’t even an option coz otherwise doctors would have said so.. and I’m too young. Think it’s just fibro coz your always hot and sweating and yes smell bad and I overdo the perfume as I don’t want people being put off by me as no one ever said anything but I’m put off by myself lol

I've got an exam today and had some yester so I'm sorry I didn't spot this. I'll reply with some treatments later and some things I've found that help too

I started menopause in my mid 20's so yes it can be. Go get labs done and see an endocrine doctor it may be your thyroid.

I wake up drenched in sweat at night. Then the ceiling fan is blowing so I freeze to death until I can change my clothes. I think I’ll keep an extra sleep outfit on my night table. That may help reduce the shivering from the fan blades. I’m 50 and not yet in menopause. I take the Depo shot to stop my excruciating periods. My body is probably as confused as I am. At this point, I don’t even want to have a mate. Too much trouble by myself already. Imagine the entire bed sheets soaked in sweat. It’s gross.
