I have fibro (among other things) and stress is definitely a trigger. I can feel my body reacting to emotional stress. That being said I can't just avoid stress - How do you train yourself to relax instead of react?
That is very hard and one that many of us still struggle with. Are you able to meditate? That's a very good to help you relax at the end of the day as well as having a bath with 1-2 cups of Epsom Bath salts. Stretches. Mindfulness adult colouring books can help relieve stress. The above picture is a flow chart that can help put things into perspective as in to stop what you're doing and thinking then to state what you're worry/stress/problem is then, whether it's real with evidence or something that's not real like a feeling or stressing over something that hasn't/won't happen. Then is there anything that you can do about it, if yes do it then distract yourself or no there's nothing that can be done then again use distraction
If you're stressing because other people are coming to you and stressing you out with their problems then you need to develop a shield for yourself to stop taking on their emotions and problems and that if they ask you to do something and you know you can't or won't be able to do it in their time then it's ok to say no to them without feeling guilty.....you need to look after yourself first to be able to help others as long as they don't ask for too much.
Try to use positive language rather than negative so instead of saying "I can't do this" say "I will try my best to do it".
Also you need to look for the joys and blessings in each day, even the tiniest ones whether it be someone paying you a compliment such as "your hair looks nice today" or looking out your window and seeing the birds flying around.
Laughing releases happy hormones so also look for humour in each day whether it's watching a comedy and laughing at that or someone telling you funny jokes or watching a funny clip on Facebook or online.
You can't help stress in your life so it's about finding ways to relieve the stress or to look for different solutions or to just say NO when people ask too much of you and don't feel guilty because you need to live your life and be happy rather than trying to please everyone else and causing yourself more stress and anxiety trying to make them happy.
I hope your able to find ways best suited to help yourself relax more, it's not easy trying to find a balance in life so the only thing you can do is to make yourself as happy in your life as possible.
