After tonight, there will 7 days of no aspirin/NSAIDs, etc(pre-op). Don't have any narcotics as of now. Any solutions for getting through this period, I know from the last time that this was even harder then the injections themselves. Wanting to maintain my sanity at this point.

Kratom is a plant that when ingested helps people get off opiates and alcohol too. Might be worth looking into. You can order on line the dried plant is available but some states allow the real plant to be shipped. Great easy and very handy to have around if you can get it.

LMB, quick question. Is kratom related to morphine? Been doing some research and can't find the answer to that question at all.

Amanda, I don't understand why you couldn't get more meds???? You just had a set of jinx done..my facet jinx was killing me for 3-4 weeks straight....!!!!! I just kept going back till I got my pain to a much more manageable circumstance. You don't have to live in pain!! Yes we struggle with it, but when meds can really help for the time being, get some and be genuine about it. In saying that, please don't go doctor shopping...

Sorry I meant my surgery/ nerve block took me 2 months before I felt any improvement...jinx did take about 2 weeks to settle though..

Octo, what I'm dealing with right in terms of pain is pelvic pain on the left side and sciatica like issues coming from the SI joint. The si joints will be dealt with next week for injections. My facets felt wonderful after about the first week as well.

If you are awaiting any scans or waiting to see a specialist, you can ask the doctors to give you something for the time being. You are obviously genuine about the pain and most GP would accomodate you if you had a set date or appointment with a specialist, or even asking your GP to set one up for you soonest possible if you haven't already.

I do not have the answer. I know people that have used it to withdraw from opiates or alcohol. Apparently is bonds with the same receptors that take up opiates so when a receptor is blocked nothing else can attach to that receptor. The plant itself to grow is not legal in many states in the US but ebay sells it often. Mostly the live plant is not sold in warmer states because it apparel grows well. In the north it cannot take the cold outside. When our fantastic and brilliant (insert sarcasm here) government changed the catagory listing of opiates and the price tripled I had a few friends suggest it for pain control. I do not have insurance so I pay for it all. I would have tried it but only if I am growing it and I cannot grow it in my state. Nurseries that do legitimatly and legally sell the plant will not ship to my state. Good luck do some research before trying anything new, there could be other interactions depending on your conditions and or medications.

Is it like smoking MJ?

Aug 27, 2015 1:24 PM

I do not know. I have not tried kratom. But I do use edibles and they work far better than opiates for me and you cannot overdose. Not possible. You can get high and not like the feeling but that is not harming your liver and kidneys like pharmaceutical products. *So before anyone lectures me I don't want to hear it go do your research. Not meant to be rude but I do have a medical degree and have done my research. Thank you. Hope you are having a low pain day.🌻

Thanks for the input. I live in TX so I don't if they would ship here or not. I've researched it and you're right so much better on my liver

Not available as a live plant in Texas.

Kratom helped me when I couldn't use NSAIDS, and my doc basically gave up on me. Switched docs, but the clinic overall sucks. Anyway, it helped. I drank it as a tea. I've never had MJ, so I can't compare. I just know it was better than codeine and not as good as magnolia bark extract with kava kava root.
