Am on my way to have orthoscopic knee surgery. I know I have private messages and a lot of catching up to do. Promise I will be back by the end of the week. If anything goes wrong my daughter will cost on my timeline on FB. But am.sure it will go fine.
Surgery went well. Am trying to rest. Knee hurts. But that's to be expected. Since they left me on the same pain med but increased it so I can take it every 4 hours I am not sure how much it's helping but not willing to stop them to see. Lol
Have to keep retyping this as my eyes keep closing but fingers keep typing. Yup' zzzzz
Ok. Question. They scoped my left knee. He said I should be up and walking. My pain is really bad though and I can't bend the knee.
My jaw is super tender now to touch. Never has been.like that before. :/ and I have been through Several surgeries.
So am wondering if this is the norm.. (or at least our norm..) Also had to.change bandages. By evening yesterday the blood had saturated the gauze. Guess my dad will need to.go.do my shopping today. Ugh.
Just looked and the tender areas look a little swollen but not too badly.
Sigh. The other day a friend and I were talking about being old. He said you are not officially old until you could no longer wipe your butt.
So there you have it! I am officially old. Lol. Owie!
When I had surgery on my finger (cyst removed on joint) I couldn't bend it. I told the doctor and HE BENT IT. So I would keep icing it. And work on bending it. Sorry for the pain. Hopefully it gets better as time passes.
I had the same type of surgery years ago, the doctor made me walk out of the hospital. No crunches or anything to help me. Just keep icing it and carefully work on bending it, you don't want it to freeze up. As far as as your jaw goes , that's strange for it to be sore. I'd give it until tomorrow and if it's not better I'd call the doctor. Hope you start feeling better soon.
As far as your knee goes...best thing for it is elevate and ice... 20 minutes on and 30 off... I have Fibro and lupus... my jaw hurts all the time but that is my norm.. if yours did not hurt prior.. I would question it.. hope you do better..
Doing the ice. Also taking muscle relaxers more often.. Not sure whats going on - I just know it doesn't feel right. I still can't bend my knee - and my face hurts. On both sides. Just barely touch along my jawline up to ears. It's frustrating .. So am going to call my doctor tomorrow to see what he has to say. It's worse now than it was before the surgery. I know that there's the recovery phase but I just don't remember it being so painful . I know - whine, whine, whine... Need some cheese to.go.with it. ;)
Oh! Dear sweet friend, please take your time and heal. Calling the Dr. In the morning is a great idea! Please keep us posted when you can. Praying for you,!
I'll be in your neck of the woods tomorrow for my appointment with the Rheumatologist, here is hoping that he can do something about my nuerpathy, I believe the Gabapentin is not working as well as it used to.
Sending you very gentle Hug's and Prayer's and sunshine to help brighten up your day!🙏🌞💖
Sjogrenspain How did your appt. go? My pain clinic suggested I try Alpha Lipoic Acid. Its something you can get over the counter. I ordered mine from Amazon. I believe it was 14.00 for a bottle of 120 capsules (600mg). Recommended dose is take 1 twice a day. My doctor said it might take a few weeks to start noticing anything. It has been 2 weeks now and the neuropathy pain is getting better. Amazing since I had surgery during this time. I tried both lyrica and Neurontin. Neither helped.
Update on me. Couldn't get in to see the doctor yesterday so seeing my primary care doctor today. Yesterday I was dealing with a lot of rattling in my chest as well as coughing. I also have a lot of pain not just on knee but behind it, on my calf and thigh and ankle. Been using ice 4 or more times a day. Ugh. So not sure what is normal and what is cause for concern. I see my surgeon on Tuesday unless my doctor today feels I need to get in sooner.
Don't have a driver available today so will venture out and try to take myself. Let the fun begin. Lol
I should have been able to drive the day after... Just not healing as quickly as the surgeon thought. Of course having Fibro etc. slows the healing down. Am home now. Got asthma bought on by the intubation. So continue doing my nebulizer treatments. She gave me an RX for antibiotics in case I got worse over the weekend. So rest, nebulize and wait til Tuesday to see surgeon.
Am so thankful that the track my pain site lets you go back to make entries for previous days.I didn't have the concentration needed to make entries after surgery so i kept little notes to remind me.today I got all caught up.
I'm glad to hear that your resting and that your doctor is nipping the respiratory problem before it gets worse. Please keep us updated on the appointment with the surgeon.
My appointment with my Rheumatologist went okay, I told him everything that is going on, including my frequent bathroom problems now. He thinks my kidneys could be affected, so he did more blood work and he gave me a cortisone injection in my muscle to see if help's and I go back in 4 months. I am going to give the pills a try that you mentioned, I hate walking around in pain in my feet and my hands , shoulder's and back of neck. Thank You for the tip!😘 Now that my tax return has come in I can order them.
Take it easy my friend! If you need someone to come take you somewhere don't hesitate I believe I'm close enough to help. (About 45 Min's- an hour away. Praying for you! Here is some sunshine to brighten your day!💖🌞
:) could use some warmth. Lol. I tried to rest yesterday. But dad decided he wanted chicken fried steak for supper. That's a time consuming, on your feet type meal. Ugh. He also bought me a ticket to see that movie - Exodus. There I did put my foot down and refuse. No way could I sit through a movie with my knee still hurting and my lungs struggling to breathe. His heart was in the right place but it just wasn't readable. Of course that gave me a few hours respite. :) tried to sleep in bed instead of recliner. My leg did ok but my lungs - not so much. Today gonna have dad go get my prescription filled. The trouble with seeing a doctor unfamiliar with your case ( I saw a NP yesterday as my doc was sick...) is she had no clue that when my asthma hits... Its a short journey from there to pneumonia.
So.. Start meds today and try to rest. Maybe I can get the Colonel (Sanders) to cook for us tonight.
Thank you so much for the offer of a ride. I may take you up on that one day. :) it would be great to meet some day.
Am so sorry I missed your birthday. I hope you had a wonderful one. Did I see it was also Sezzy's birthday recently? Or am I remembering wrong?
I have been vegetating. Playing online games to just keep my mind off things.. Haven't even had a heart to read. (and I need to so I can get reviews done...)
Mimikay, I'm sorry to hear your healing is taking longer. Asthma sucks, so use that nebulizer. And be careful around scented stuff. I was at an appt Thursday and a lady came in drowned in perfume. It was so crowded all I could do was pull my shirt over my nose & mouth to breathe through it. I could feel the burning in my throat! Anyway, you take it easy and rest, and don't try to over push yourself and then cause a setback. Hugs love and prayers you have a full recovery and sooner than later! 🙂💕🙏🌸
I know that many of us take longer to recover when having surgery etc. But - I really think somethings not right.
I am one week post op. The pain is still intense. Swelling still there. If I get up and walk or don't have leg elevated it starts to feel really tight. Inside. (hope that makes sense). There is also pain in that ankle as well as the calf and the thigh.
Tonight suddenly I started feeling light headed, fuzzy thinking and shaky. Sitting here my hands are occasionally jerking. Its just not right. How do you explain that "something feels off..." to a doctor. I see the surgeon Tuesday. I went to my primary doctor Friday and she didn't think it was anything to stress over. So .. Guess I wait for Tuesday but seriously? This is no fun. :(
Yes - the shaky etc. could be from the asthma treatment but it's never affected me this way before.
Ok. Getting off my pity party now and back to writing letters. :)
I really will get back from AWOL soon. Just be patient with me. Lord knows patience is not my best virtue.
Mimikay yes it was my birthday 16th and it was a good one. We went out to eat with family on the 18th which was nice but very stressful being out. My family kept me occupied mostly so I didn't go in to a panic or melt down thankfully! Altho the balloon and being sung happy birthday didn't help but my little niece stood with me and helped me blow out my candles!
I think sjogrenspain77 had her birthday a couple of days before me? Not sure tho.
You make sure you take it easy and you tell the surgeon every little symptom tomorrow when you see him, he will probably have more insight as to why all this is going on hopefully.
Sending you positive vibes and warm healing loving hugs xx
Thank You Mimikay! It was a good birthday.. all my kids were home and I got some peace and quiet while my Step Daughter had her appointment, hubby took her so I had about an hour to chill before my 2 came home from school.
Sezzy it was on the 14th.
Mimikay, you take your time and heal, don't overdo it. Will be praying that your surgeon can find what the problem is! Warm sunshine being sent your way🌞🌞 to block out the rain!
Looks like I am going to have to get a brace. I just couldn't add that to my trip today. So am going to try to get it tomorrow. Will have to.see how the day unfolds.. That knee is pretty much bone on bone. So will just have to take things one day at a time.
Oh Mimikay I'm really sorry, I just read you fb post and that didn't sound too good. I know over here they don't like doing things like knee replacements too early because they normally only last like 10 years. I wish there was something I could say or do to help you 😢 hopefully the brace should help support your knee and relieve some of the pain.
I'm sending angels to watch over you and help you xx HUGS xx
Sezzy... I know. 20 years ago I was told I would need a replacement. Been fighting it ever since . a friend of mine was just telling me that she was in an experimental program. They basically took bone marrow and used it to regrow the cartiledge in her knee. Maybe by the time I need it - this will be an option. Need to research it more though.
I went to Snells. They measured me and made sure the brace fit. I got it yesterday. If it doesn't work I will look into that. Thank you for thinking of me. I think I messed up my neck, shoulders and knee's this morning. See my post about "Ever had one of those days?"
