Swollen & Painful Joints

Apr 01, 2016 7:52 PM

I have to wonder why I keep having swollen fingers &/or tires, which hurt when pressed. Got up this morning and my left pointer & pinky fingers were hurting. As a matter of fact my fingers were so swollen I wasn't able to put my jewelry on (1st inner ever). Later in the day my right pointer & trying fingers began hurting as well. Now several types are also. I can press my fingers and it leaves indentations. Colder weather is coming in overnight. Maybe a connection? 🙂💕🙏🌼

Sounds like an RA flare. Typically you lose water when it is colder and hold fluid when it is warmer. Damn crazy weather. That's what it is when it happens to me. Another thought that comes to my mind is gout. Usually it affects your lower joints knees, ankles and toes. If this does not correct itself you may want to go see your doctor and do some lab work.

Thanks LMB. I'm thinking some type of Arthritis. I woke up so stiff, from the waist to my knees & in my arms and hands. I can barely move today. My rheumy doc said I don't have RA due to the blood tests. Even after a warm shower and gentle stretches it hasn't helped. My fingers are swollen at various joints and I barely got my rings off after stupidly putting them on this morning. I swear this is the worst I've felt in a very long time, joint wise.

Hey Flappsy.. That sounds kind of strange to me. Are your feet and ankles swollen as well? How is the SOB? Usually when I am doing things and do too much, my hands will swell and so will my feet if I'm standing a very long time without walking. I hope that it eases up. Maybe if you put your hands under cool/cold water and see if that helps? Either way, I hope that you feel better soon. By the way... How is the area where they put the catheter? Has that hard area started to soften yet? You're in my prayers. {{{Hugs}}}💕

That sounds alot like what I've been going through the last several months with my joints especially on my left side ( hip and shoulder and foot the bottom's of anyway) and my fingers swell and are very painful. No RA blood work done. Let me know what you find. Very curious. Praying for you!

Flappsy, I have RA and I hate to tell you, but it sounds like you need to be retested. Get someone take pictures and videos and let your doc see them. Write down your symptoms. If that comes back negative, push to find out what it is.
I would share pics of my hands with you if we could on here so you could compare notes. Much love and lots of prayers hun

I was told by two completely different rheumatologists that RA is just a puzzle of symptoms and the blood work is just a piece... Well great another diagnostic test that may or may not be accurate. So after a few years of symptoms I did test positive and got that diagnosis checked off the list. Wh0at about your sedation rate? It is another test to check inflammation markers in you blood stream. As sleeping beauty said take pictures! Sometimes we have to put the pieces together in our own puzzles. Also be aware of any odd rashes that appear on your upper body and face. Another puzzle. Seems like life is a puzzle. Good luck :)

AlwayZ, My get and lower legs are swelled constantly, for years now; hence compression stockings. My SOB seems fine today, but then my moving around has been limited at best. Lol. Cold water hurts my hands and has for years. The cath site still has a small knot, which will likely develop scar tissue around it.

Moparmom, odd that you mentioned your hip on one side. I'm getting PT for hip pain, 2 mos now from arthritis. Doc told me to get a full spine check. I've had a negative RA test by 2 docs. But I believe I read there are multiple types of Arthritis.

Sleepingbeauty, I'm having my hubby go to the appt with me. I've taken real good notes of symptoms for several days. It's almost like they've combined to a high point. I am going to ask for further testing. I stay tired with very low tolerance for activity.

LMB, I know I have OA, but the Ortho doc said it attacks the bone of joints. He told me to let my rheumy doc know my CPR level was over 8. He told me it's indicative of inflammation. I don't know what my sed rate is. I see my rheumy doc on the 12th.

Thank you all for your loving support & prayers. I'll keep you posted on what the doc says. Hugs, love, & prayers for you all too! 🙂💕🙏🌼
