Tailbone protrudes out, spinal cord wrapped around tailbone?

Jun 20, 2016 10:52 PM

I have had this all my life, nobody knows what's wrong with me or are able to give me a diagnosis or how to fix this issue. Lately it's been giving me excruciating pain especially during the night, I can feel it worsening throughout the day.

Oh, Taails, I truly empathize with you. That kind of night pain is so awful to contemplate, much less feel. I have a mini version of what gives that terrible pain. I was born with a crook in my tailbone that has given me a lot of pain. There isn't anything they can do to help according to my long time Doctor. I have a new doctor now who mostly sends me to someone else by referral.
Since I now Have other spine issues it all gets lumped together.
Am so sorry you suffer through the night while most people sleep( that would be except all of us Pain Peeps.)

It can't be your spinal cord as the spinal cord finishes at L1-L2. I think you probably mean the bundle of nerves- cauda equina- they run from L2

Trails, I don't have what you describe. But I have other issues with my tailbone & lumbosacral areas. I have to adjust my position just right or I wake with pain &/or numbness down my legs. I've been told my whole address below L5 is filled with OA growths. Hugs & prayers a doctor can someday find a way to help with your pain! 🙂💕🙏🌼

Have they checked your SI joint or your sacrum? I have these issues and can only sit/stand for small times. By the end if the day it hurts to tears and I am on lots of meds including muscle relaxers and fentanyl.
