Thanks Soooooo much NHS

Sorry but I just have to rant!! I went to St James University Hospital Leeds this morning to have an endoscopy under GA. .. or that's what I thought was happening today!!

I got there at just a little after 8am. This is after getting up at 6am and sitting in rush hour traffic the 30 or so miles it is from where I live so it took well over an hour to get there. (This is after not sleeping well because of worrying about going under GA!)

I got to reception to be told that the computers were down and to take a seat until they booked me in. At 8.35 they finally did. 9am comes around and still no one has called for me. I was starting to get a bit suspicious as normally when you have a GA you are one of the 1st to be seen and prepped.

At 9.15 the unit Sister calls my name and takes me to a side room. She says I'm really sorry but your procedure won't be taking place today, it was actually on Monday!!

Errr no I say! I have the letter here saying it is today and I rung 3 weeks ago and confirmed it!! Well I'm sorry but unfortunately there has been a mistake and because your procedure is under GA and you need a bed after the procedure I'm afraid that we can't do anything today!!

Queue me bursting into tears. I said "Do you realise the logistics it takes for me to be here today? My children who are 8 years old and 1 years old are with my sister. . It takes me an hour and a half to drive to her house then the same to get back home!! My grandmother is terminally ill. . Still some how clinging on for dear life and my family are trying to cope with that. For me to come back again. .. whenever that may be because I know that the lists for endoscopy with GAs are few and far between will mean waiting for weeks! Plus trying to rearrange child care will all just be a nightmare! !!"

I got another feable I'm sorry and a booklet on how to complain to the NHS!!

Because I'm tired and stressed my pain is higher than normal and I'm now worrying about when I will get a new appointment. . Oh apparently I was told that someone tried to ring me all yesterday to stop me attending today but there was no messages left on my answering machines so someone isn't being truthful! !!

Sorry I just had to vent!! Blooming NHS .. no wonder it's in crisis when money is wasted on a team waiting for me to show up on Monday when I'm told Wednesday! !!

⚘⚘⚘ blinkin idiots... u deserve much better care angel... get in touch with the P.A.L.S at st James... and they should back u up and liaise between the hospital and urself. They can chaperone u (as a witness) in appointments too... most of all they cannot blame u for the hospitals clerical error!
I wish i was there to help hunni... give me a call x🌷🌷🌷

Twitter is the best place to complain.... It's public and they can't remove it, as long as you don't say anything inappropriate, I find things get resolved quite a lot quicker!!

Wow Saz, and I thought my day went bad; I'm so sorry!! My PCP staff screwed up today's visit, which was suppose to be a pre-op, claiming they never received forms from the surgeons office. Surgeons office called me after I frantically called her, and read me the fax confirmation info. Funny thing, my PCP is working me in as their first patient on Friday. Nice, but it doesn't account for the 3 1/2 hours wasted traveling & sitting in their office today. I guess we both got screwed by someone else's mistake! Bless your heart, I hope the rest of the week goes well for you! Hugs love & prayers! πŸ™‚πŸ’•πŸ™πŸŒΈ

Thanks Flappyslady. ..

I've emailed to complain and asked a whole bunch of questions including how are they going to make sure that it doesn't happen again to someone else! !!

I'm sorry to hear that you had a horrible day too!! Typical health care providers no matter where they are .. its never their fault! !!

Hope that the pre op goes well on Friday. . Oh god that's reminded me that I bet my pre op will be out of date by the time I get a new appointment so I will have to go through that all again! !!

Arrraaggghhhh! !!stupid people. . Don't they realise that stress can effect pain in major way???

Love & hugs to you!! Xxx

Morning Lulabel, at the momemt i live in lowestoft suffolk. Its about 230 miles. Yes it is all a bit of a worry. Although, as most of us, i try to manage my pain myself. Cant rely on docs, services and nhs funds..
It does provoke anxiety that i will go through the same answer and question session with another doc..

Got removal men to do all the hard work moving. So i will drive up with cats and pup in toe. It will be difficult and stressful though. Thanks for your wishes. Gx

I did it when my friend was in hospital in Leicester, I live in the south, she told me the room she was in was disgusting, water backing up in the sink and toilet, with raw sewage...she sent me photos, I posted them to their twitter feed and they contacted me almost immediately πŸ‘ŒπŸΎπŸ‘ŒπŸΎπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
