The FibroGuide

Dear subscribers,

Education and symptoms management strategies are proven to be helpful and effective for living with fibromyalgia (FM). Usually this is part of a pain management setting in specialized clinic. Here at the Pain Companion we try to focus on these topics too but it's a vast field and we have limited space. So I want to share a good source of information about it here. The Chronic Pain & Fatigue Research Center a the University of Michigan offers a free and comprehensive symptom management program for FM. I covers the most important aspects of living with FM like:

- understanding fibromyalgia
- exercise
- setting goals and pacing
- cognitive behavioral therapy or reframing negative thinking
- communication
- relaxation
- sleep hygiene
- fibrofog

I like the structured make-up of the program with the videos and the work sheets. It's not an app but an online program. Many ideas are simple but still hard to implement, like "thinking differently". There is a lot one can achieve with these tools and I hope you take a look at it. It takes a little time to get through it but I think it's worth it. If you have done it you will know the essentials about coping with fibromyalgia. It's kind of basic knowledge and skills from where you can extend into more personalized, mind-body or holistic treatments.

Unfortunately Adobe Flash Player is required, and my android tablet won't work with it. Sorry I can't sew it because I was looking forward to it. 🙂🙏💕🌼

OK, maybe one day when I'm on the laptop I'll try and pull it in. That's if I remember. Lol
