The Stupidest Thing

Nov 03, 2015 4:44 PM

Got tackled in theater, now back pain feels like my nerves are messed up, it's itchy up my spine and my visions blurry it hurts, I feel like crying, can't think, but I'm gonna try to make it through my last class. Banged my head, not too hard, but enough to hurt. Wish my body was more flexible, a normal person might have been fine *sigh*

When you get out of school make sure to let your parents know you might need to get checked out. Especially because you say vision is blurry if you hit your head you might have a small concusion

Nov 03, 2015 6:01 PM

How did you get tackled Ferret?

Nov 03, 2015 7:09 PM

Improv, just pushed over really fast, bumped bar of my head, but I didn't black out or anything, more feels like a nerve got hit in my shoulder, neck, and head

Nov 03, 2015 7:58 PM

If ice does not cause you more pain try icing your spine. I would bet that you have some inflammation around the nerves causing the tingle feeling. I am sure you already tried some DMSO on your back. If your vision is still an issue or you are having any nausea get checked out by a doctor. Take care, you know we all are looking out for you. Let us know how you are tomorrow, I expect you will be sore. So sorry you got hurt today.

Ferretbandit, I am so very sorry that happened to you. Be very careful about the blurry vision as it doesn't take much for you to get a concussion, slight or otherwise. One thing you need to remember is that you ARE a normal person. Yes, you have diseases that cause you pain and other problems but that certainly doesn't make you abnormal. (Normal is such a relative term anyway. I think it's a matter of averages, etc.. But what the hell is normal anyway?!?). For instance, "normal" body temperature for people is 98.7 and they consider anything over 100.0 is considered a fever. Well, MY "Normal" is 97.1 degrees. So, am I abnorma?? No, my temp is what it is for me. It varies for most people. I hope that you get to be feeling better soon. Sending you lots of well wishes, love, gentle {{{Hugs}}} and prayers πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»

Alwayz, my normal is 97.2. They know I'm in pain when my systolic goes above 130 and my diastolic stays around 70 or 80. So I agree with you, what is normal?

So true Amanda! And sometimes, the clothes still come out damp

Nov 03, 2015 8:55 PM

Ferretbandit, I hope you'll be ok by morning, with a good night's sleep! πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Thanks everyone. I'm doing better now, LMB yes, had DMSO as soon as I was home. My thinking is really slow still, but some pain nausea and wierd light things have gone away. Thanks for reminding me of the normal thing, there's just some people in theater who always push each other but never really get injured. Will be going to bed early tonight for sure!

Ferritbandit hope you a free e feeling better. Hugs and prayers sent your way.

Amanda... LMAO!! That was a good one. πŸ˜œπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜Š

Feeling a bit better, but s stiff. Mini panels are today, which means I get to explain my genetics board game. Thank goodness we have a while before real panels, they really suck.
But after our presentations to the public, we get special one month classes (or internships) which is wonderful, kinda makes the stress of the rest of the year worth it. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜₯😜

Nov 04, 2015 5:55 PM

That sounds very interesting. Let us know how you do, and how the audience response. Good luck! πŸ™πŸŒΌ

Pls take care and good luck! I'm a nurse and head injuries even ones that do not cause loss of consciousness can be a problem. There is a thing called post concussive syndrome where the effects may not show up for years (i.e. Football players and boxers). The new recommendations for post concussive care have changed lately and include several days, at least, of rest for the brain. Head injuries causing headache, nausea, dizziness, or loss of consciousness need to be taken seriously. God bless and good luck with your presentation!

Thanks, today was actually pretty good, still having neck issues, on the little spot where the spine stops, switches to smaller bones in the neck.

Flappy, the teacher for panels was grumpy today, but she's really cool, just is always trying to be the super strict "scary" teacher.
My group went first, we have problems with how the game will work, but they think it sounds fun.

The sophomores (me and a guy from writing group) were okay presenting, freshmen are understandably nervous.
Full panels will have people from outside the school, in tables of 4, and that'll be the fun part.
Stress, stress, stress, just not yet.

Glassy, guess it's lucky I have a 4 day weekend, except my student led conference tomorrow.
I guess I also get frequent migraines, so right now seems pretty normal, but not quite. I did talk to my dad about it so he'll be on the look out.

Glad to hear that you're doing fairly well today. Sounds very interesting doing the panels. I look forward to hearing updates as you go along. Be careful and be mindful of anything that doesn't feel right. I know you're on the ball and with your Dad keeping an eye, you should be just fine. Sending gentle {{{Hugs}}} and prayers your way. πŸ’•πŸ™πŸ»πŸŒ»

I like to explain panels as like being on a cooking show, they trek you what they love, tell you what they hate, and next round you need to fix it.

FB, don't discount the role stress plays in pain.

Try out stress mgt things that work for you. I found an app for my daughter (8th grade) to manage school stress, including a meditation for nights before exams!

Apps may not be for you; we're all different.

The message is ... don't stop trying ways to alleviate, and, dare I say, eliminate our pain.

Deep b breaths definitely help, when I can breathe through my nose at least
