The View from my back door.

Dec 29, 2016 11:30 AM

This year my son and daughter were both home for Christmas. First time in 18 years. My daughter got engaged the week before Christmas to a young man I can only describe as her soul mate.

While visiting they all three (my biological children plus Josh - who has been one of my kids of my heart for over 7 years now) noticed how extremely worn down I was. Their solution was to get me away from being a caregiver for a few weeks. I rode back to Montana with my son. This picture is a view of the Yellowstone Mountains from his back door. Cold but breathtaking.

Mimikay this is absolutely beautiful! I love the mountains! This photo is simply breathtaking! You are such a blessed woman to have your children care so much about about you like they do. Enjoy your rest and relaxation, Lord knows that you needed a vacation.

Oh my, how absolutely beautiful. I'd love to wake up and see snow instead of the heat for a little while. ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿค—

It's actually not that cold for the North. It was down to 17F when we got in last night. Right now it's sunny and the day temp is in lower 30's. I remember how bitter cold Fargo can get. When I lived in that area it would get wind chills of 80 below F. Now that was some cold weather. Of course on Christmas day it was 70F in Little Rock area so compared to that - 17 is a tad bit cold. Lol. Its all in your perspective I imagine.

For those who don't know me I am my mom's caregiver. Have been for 6 years now. So a few weeks each year I try to get away to recoup. I missed that this year due to a car accident and I imagine by the time my kids got home it was obvious I needed a break. I truly am blessed to have the children I have. My son is 35 and after several years of not talking due to a cult like situation we are finding a mutual love and respect for each other. In that respect this holiday is so much more than just a trip. Its a chance for us to bond as adults.

My daughter, son and I had Christmas with my parents and my siblings. First time in 18 years that we all were together for Christmas. That makes me triply blessed and then some.

I tired though. The car trip here was 32 hours. We drove 16 hours the first day. Stayed at the hotel the second day to rest up then drove the rest of the way yesterday. Or rather my son drove.

So yea. Am tired which turns me into a rambling kinda person. Sorry bout that. :)

What a beautiful view! Thanks for sharing. I miss views of the sun setting over Lake Erie since I moved to Georgia in 2008. There are georgeous trees here and beautiful mountains.
