Time to diagnose- fibro?

Dec 20, 2014 4:24 PM

How long was it after you started noticing your symptoms before you actually got diagnosed? I've had pretty classic fibro symptoms for a few years now. I brought it up to a doctor in 2013 and he brushed it away. But it never went away. Is this normal? How long did it take for you to get diagnosed?

I suffered for 3-4 years before getting diagnosed by my primary physician. Several doctors do not really believe fibromyalgia is real, so many "brush off" any mention of it. The two best physicians are rheumatologist and endocrinologist because they do more precise blood workups to make sure all else is ruled out. Good luck

My pain started In my left shoulder after going down a waterslide...the pain went on for months before I went to primary Dr who said to ice it, it was probably bursitis. After 6 months, pain was still there but now was moving to my other shoulder and back. 2 years later he diagnosed it as fibromyalgia. I like my Dr. I trust him. He listened to me and does not have his hand on the door.as I am talking. Make sure you find someone you trust. Its not so easy these days I know!! Hope you find/or have a good Dr

Ask to see a specialist for pain or neurologist. That's who diagnosed me years ago. There are good docs out there! Can you go to another primary?
