Feb 15, 2018 9:56 AM

Sorry new here i have been suffering from widespread pain for well over 7 years now and my friends and family repeatedly told me its in my head im just a sook and cant handle pain. 😔 so i hid my pain as much as i possibly could id run my self down and pay for it majorly when i got home then would still have to feed my children and my self so for the past three years i have been trying to get to the bottom of my pain and finally have a name for it fibromyalgia and so now i know what it is my family still hasn't changed there tune im forever hearing you dont look sick. You cant really be in that much pain. You look fine today. Its in your head. You just need some rest. Why do people do this i proved it to them that its a real condition how do i get them to understand the pain has me in tears some days unable to move or pick up and hug my babies how do i talk about that to them without feeling like im sooking or shouldnt say anything just to save the headache of trying to explain it its getting harder to pretend im ok

Ps. Again so sorry this is my first time here just felt like i needed somewhere to get it all off my chest thank you gentle hugs to every dear soul fighting the pain your all super strong ❤❤❤

Welcome to our community Shayleen. I'm sorry you have fibromyalgia. I do too among other things. Does heat help? Take a warm bath with 1 -2 cups of Epsom salt. Use heating pad or electric blanket. TENS unit helps some people. Magnesium and Tumeric help some people. Have you heard of the spoon theory? It's a way of telling someone how you are doing. You have so many spoons a day then you use spoons for each thing you do. There's a letter to normal people online. Someone else might be able to tell you where to get the info about spoons and the letter. I can't remember. Feel free to ask any question you might have someone should be able to help. (((gentle hugs)))

Thank you very much sweets yes i use Epsom salts all the time i have a healthy stock pile atm lol i have tried using the spoon theory to explain to my family but they still seem to think im making up a lot of my pain regardless of what proof i have to show them but they are some of the most selfish people i have ever known if its not about them they dont care it has been really helpful reading through a lot of these and seeing people that feel what im feeling and know its all very real pain sometimes my family make me feel like maybe it is just in my head and im just being a sook or whatever but reading up and seeing what others have to say about there pain gives me hope that there is real support out there that knows my pain is very real thank you heaps and im really glad to have stumbled on to this app 🤗🤗❤

Oh dear, you are in double pain!♥️♥️♥️. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia too since 3 years and I have had symptoms longer than that. Because I'm young I didn't believe that could be something I have and people around me thought that I was tired or that I didn't live a healthy life...when in reality I was sick.

I don't know if your family will finally understand and accept your sickness but I do know that you need to put your needs first. Fibromyalgia is not a small thing, is unfortunately permanent and it hurts. Is very hard to try to ignore the world around you but all your energies need to be concentrated in feeling better, for you and your children. Try to get a good medical care, read a lot, write to us and get together with people that makes you well instead of people that is negative to you. You have all the right in this world to complain, I know how painful it is...if they knew. A big soft hug, hang in there
