To my meatatarians...what to do?

Jul 23, 2015 4:23 PM

Okay, so my school once again moved where the first week of school' camp will be. I'm extremely frustrated because we're not supposed to bring meat, for religious/spiritual reasons. Ugh. I can't eat vegetarian for 3 days, not with all of my dietary restrictions.
Let's see. ... .ir has to be vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy free, no artificial sweeteners, no folic acid/folate/unmethylated B vitamins, no grain, no nuts. ... .so, lettuce? Ugh! My friend thinks my dad should just bring his own grill or something so we can have steak.
The other idea is ground beef in tofu containers. I know most people will be bringing their own food, especially with how many people got sick last year. Some people blamed it on the food, but there were only 2 water fountains in the area, so everyone was dehydrated.
Seriously, putting 400 teens in a place with only 2 drinking fountains? Bad idea. Plus, it was a basketball camp during the summer. I'm glad they got a bigger place, but the menu sucks. Sorry, really needed to vent.

Ferretbandit, why can't y'all have meat? What type school camp is this? I've never heard of this so I'm curious. 🙏🌼

Is something with the new location for the new camp. My school does a 3-day full school camp to start the year, and we keep getting bigger. I was just reading that last year some people (students) broke into one of the cabins. Hmm...kinda a debate going on, at least with some students about whether the camps should continue.
One girl's mom suggested the place, and it has a mission about sustainability with crops and such. The organization said "no meat, not even pre-cooked" but almost everyone brings their own food, if they can afford it.
