Took a spill & I'm paying BIG time! 😫🤕

Sorry I haven't been on lately; I've missed reading and catching up with all! But on Saturday morning I stepped on a dog bone (didn't see it), which skid across the laminate floor and caused me to lose my balance & fall hard... In a freaking half split! My right leg was straight out in front of me, but my left leg bent at the hip outward and flat against the floor with the left knee bent completely back and the bottom of my foot resting against my hip/butt cheek. Ouch ouch ouch! The jarring to my spine as pain shot upward, from my tailbone to my neck, made me freeze in place afraid to move. I thought I broke my hip joint! After about 10 minutes I was finally able to straighten my left leg and get up with hubby's help. Within minutes I developed a headache and noticed a very cool tingling from the sacrum to my left foot, with a swelling warmth to the inside of my left knee. I got a very short warm shower then put my knee brace on and rubbed voltaren gel in everywhere that hurt except my head. I took a muscle relaxer and sat down with my legs elevated. The left leg was sprained from back to foot, I knew from the symptoms, so I iced where I could and rested.

But every day since the fall I've developed more & worse headaches and muscle spasms with swollen trigger points to the mid & upper back & neck. I woke yesterday with another excruciating headache so I called the doc, fearing I'd done damage to my surgical area. Thank God there is no damage to any discs in the neck and upper thoracic discs; not sure of the low back because only did upper back xrays. But the doc said I have a lot of inflammation going on with spasms and severe tender points. So he put me on Baclofen muscle relaxers 3x a day for 30 days, put me back in my neck brace and has restricted my hand & arm use until it all calms down. So I'll be reading and responding to only a few at a time until I catch up. Anyone else ever use Baclofen; good or bad??

Last night I woke at 2 am with another excruciating headache and didn't get much sleep last night. He said C2 is causing the shoulder/scapula/arm pain I've been dealing with that the fall made worse. And C7-T1 is responsible for the upper back & neck spasms, with headaches that come up the neck and over the top as cervicogenic headaches and morphs into freaking migraines! Ugh!! Trying to develop another headache now, so about to take a break and get a relaxing shower.

On top of this my tinnitus with dizziness & imbalance has not improved despite the steroids treatment, so I'm still fighting for balance as I walk and make turns. Sometimes it feels like the room starts to spin but then it stops when I freeze in place, unlike vertigo that keeps spinning. Thank the Lord it doesn't bother me driving, only when I walk. I did find out that my recent hearing loss is due to nerve damage in my ear. Wow, didn't know that! I don't use headphones or ear pieces so I'm curious as to what has caused the nerve damage. I think I'm going to ask for a referral to Emory's Dizziness and Imbalance Clinic at my follow up. Maybe they can help reduce my symptoms.

I hope all of you have a good day with as little pain as possible. Hugs love and prayers! 🙂💕🙏🌸

So sorry to hear what you're going through! Any fall can do a number in us! Haven't used the muscle relaxer. If you can find a physical therapist that does strain counterstrain & dry needling - get a referral & get yourself in there asap!
My husband & I had moved last fall, I had taken 4 falls, & more. When I went to my physical therapist early this summer, I was in the worst shape I've been in since I started going to her probably 5 years ago! Feeling much better now.
Also, if you see a chiropractor, get to them. If not, find one that is gentle & other people recommend. Chiropractic & physical therapy done during the same time period gets the best results for me.
God bless you lady!

I use baclofen 3x a day at quite a high dose, I used to have a pump fitted but the port site kept getting infected so we switched back to pills. For my spinal cord injuries it has helped my spasticity, clonus and spasms but you may be on a much smaller dose. It should be really helpful Flappys 😊❤️

Sending you a gentle hug. So sorry it happened. Take care of you. 💜

I'm sorry this happened to you. I love my dogs but fear them making me fall by tripping me somehow. Tripping on one of their bones or toys is something I hadn't even considered. Thanks for the warning and I'm sorry the warning had to be so painful to you. I hope you mend soon.

Flappy, my dear friend. I need to get you one of those giant inflatable balls that you climb into. They are fun in a swimming pool, can get a bit rough in the yard. At least it will give you a much better cushion instead of doing the splits on a hard floor. I am sorry that you are really having a long rough patch.

Scrunch up inside and roll where you want to go. I think we are going to need a bigger house! I would not be able to make it out of my livingroom.

Flappsy, you make sure to follow the doctor's orders or I will be forced to send you to Lulabel for a spanking (There's a line waiting ahead of you.. LOL!!). Just remember, the horse crop is reserved for my arse.. 🤗😜🐫😳😉😍

Thanks everyone. I'm doing somewhat better, at least with the spasms. But the Baclofen has me dizzy as all get out! Or at least i think it's the med. It's a very low dose, 10 mg 3x a day. I can't walk straight, and even when I stand still I'm swaying and teetering all around. Today I've skipped two doses. I have the darnedest reactions to most meds and always have. That's why my allergy and adverse reactions list is so long, and why docs have a hard time treating me. And it's why I've had to develop a high tolerance to pain. I'll be darned if I'll risk another fall over medication. If it's not my meds then it's going to be the ear and/or nerve damage to do with the ear. I have an appt Thursday with the ENT specialist. Hopefully that at least will answer if it's the meds or the ear/nerve. Thanks again for the support and we'll wishes! I hope you've all had a safe and good day! Hugs love and prayers for a good week to all! 🙂💕🙏🌸

Hopefully it's the meds which have given you the vertigo and not the damage from your ear/nerves . I've found when I have vertigo that if I touch something with my hands like the wall or a worktop the dizziness is a little less, apparently doing that actually leaves us feeling a little less dizzy than just using our feet to balance (ENT consultant told me that a few years ago).

I'm soo glad you're feeling a little better and hopefully ENT will be able to help and answer what's causing the dizziness.

Sending you all my healing prayers and gentle HUGS xxx

Your body will get used to it Flappys,it's not a nice feeling but stick with it to see if it's helpful, hope you get over the dizziness soon 😊
