Trigeminal Neuralgia vent

Oct 29, 2016 10:53 PM

I don't know if they can do anything to help me with no insurance. They have changed my meds again. The pain comes often. It's great if I get a two hour break during the day but it's hard.

I just needed to vent a little bit. I need TN to go away forever!!

I hear you. What kind of nerve pain medication have you tried and what are you being changed to?? Whatever it is. I wish you the very best of luck and hope they can get you something that eases your pain. Gentle {{{Hugs}}}💕

Thank you!!

I'm hoping you start getting relief from the new meds ... I read somewhere yesterday 2-4 weeks for lyrica but think I also read less. Again seems to be down to the individual.
I find the UK sites on meds are easier for me to grasp and seem.to have more info. Like lyrica contains lactose .. whoop whoop since I have a lactose intolerance ...
Hope today is better ...

MrsInvisiBell I know what you're going through, my TN on a good day is 3/10 but I've been in a bad flair for over 5 weeks now. A good day at the moment is 8/10 going up to 9.5/10 I have tried all the usual nerve pain drugs which none of them helped me.
I'm now on a strong dose of amitriptyline and morphine mst with naproxen and paracetamol on bad days with a lidocaine plaster ( it's a white plaster I wear for 12 hours on my left cheek which numbs the area so I have less pain ).
Unfortunately for me I get no break in the pain, it's constantly there and of course when stressed the pain is higher.
The doctors have also changed my antidepressant to duloxetine which so after 4 weeks I've not had any benefit from.....mood wise or pain wise.
Are you able to possibly try something like the lidocaine plaster to see if it can offer a little relief?
I hope your day gets easier for you xx

I have magic mouthwash which the dentist gives, liquid lidocaine. I'm on duloxetine as well. I feel like everything I'm taking is a placebo!! Lol it's gradually gotten worse. Most days I'm 8/10 or 9/10

I'll have to try that mouthwash as my daughter gets worried everytime I put the plaster on......ight be another option!

Maybe we should start a group on how all medication makes it worse not better because that's exactly how I feel atm!
Sending you {{{ HUGS }}}
