Unexplained left flank pain.

Aug 09, 2015 8:31 PM

For over twenty years I've had an unexplained diagnoses of left flank pain that start in the area or my stomach and shoots all the way through my back on the left side and middle lower back . My left arm and leg stay numb and tingles all the time. I am a victim of MST from Oct 1993 in which my assault left me with clyamidia, cystitis, PID , pyelonephritis of the left kidney and a urinary tract infection. In which I've tried to commit suicide twice .I have been diagnoses with PTSD , anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder and borderline personality disorder. I don't know why the pain exist but it gets so unbearable at the time.

Leftflankpain3, I'm very sorry for what you've been through. PTSD can happen to anyone from any type of traumatic incident. I've had episodes myself from childhood. Thankfully with the passing years and life experiences they don't happen as often. Do you use relaxation techniques to help you work through them? I find relaxation music and deep breathing helps a lot, and so does redirecting my thoughts.

I'm not a doctor but I would think the left side pain is related in some way to the problems with the left kidney and PID. Do you do anything that helps relieve it some? Have you noticed any pattern to when the pain occurs? For instance, sometimes when my interstitial cystitis flares up I realize I haven't drank enough water, or I forgot to drink my daily cranberry juice. Have you tried warm compresses, like moist heat? Or ice packs?

I wish I knew what could help specifically, or what the cause of the pain is. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers! 🙏🌼

Leftflankpain3, first I would like to say I am so very sorry for the horribe assault that you endured and I'd also like to welcome you to our family community. I, too, have suffered from PTSD from something that happened to me in a hospital and I also suffer from anxiety and depression which is quite severe at times. The area you describe sounds not only like it can be caused by the situations that Flappsy described but have you had your Gallbladder and your Pancreas checked? I suffered for several years with that type of pain and it was thought to be from my GERD. Well, finally after 3 long term hospitalizations with numerous tests, it was finally determined that my gallbladder was bad and FULL of stones that were backed up in the duct and also growing around the opening and outside of the duct. Perhaps it's worth having it checked. I hope that you find the answers you need, and soon, so that your pain levels are manageable. Please keep in touch with the group. These wonderful and compassionate people have been a Godsend to me and I have been blessed to know I am never alone and that there ARE people who understand through common experience. Perhaps not the same illnesses, diseases or syndromes, but definitely the horrible, overbearing chronic pain and all the other stuff that comes along with it. I pray you find the comfort and support that you need here and also find the answers to your medical issues so you can get to feeling better. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.💕🙏🏻🌻
