Update :)

I had my appointment with a new doctor and it went great! He was very down to earth, he described in great detail what is causing my lower back, hip, leg and foot pain. Based on the report of my last MRI. He listened to me and was very compassionate. He stated that he sees many patients that are in chronic pain, his goal is to restore some quality of life. He is having me come back each week for next few weeks. He is going to run allergen tests on me. I was so excited because none of the doctors I have seen previously have ever been so thorough. An interesting opinion of his, not sure if it's factually based or not. He said most people diagnosed with Fibro have "leaky gut" and they can run a test to determine if one has this. I'm looking forward to getting some answers finally. He prescribed me extended release potassium, an old school muscle relaxer called Norflex. I actually mustered up the courage to ask for pain medication. He said YES! :) he won't prescribe more than 4 Norco per day. If I need more he will refer me to a pain specialist. I'm going to wait and see what the results are from the tests, I really need 6 Norco per day but didn't want to press my luck on my first appointment. I'm very thrilled with the outcome and that I've found "my" doctor. Felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of me. Yay! ✌️❤️

Anonymous, that's great to hear! You are one of a lucky few. Is he an MD or a DO? I'm considering seeing an osteopathic doctor, if my insurance will cover it. Let us know how the tests come out. I've not heard that about the leaky gut, but I have IBS and its awful. Good luck with positive results as you go forward. 🙏🌼

Anonymous1971, I could not be happier for you!!! Remember when you first posted and we all said that the best approach was to be honest and open and to make sure the doctor listened, etc... I am so glad that this doctor has put you in a good place and is willing to get you into a pain specialist if you need more Norco than he prescribed. It's possible that with the muscle relaxant, you may not need the additional 2 pain pills. (However, if you do need them, don't be afraid to tell the doctor, He obviously wants to help you and is willing to go the distance to find out exactly what is happening to you and to find a combination of medications that works for you. I wish you the best, will keep you in my prayers and please keep us posted as to how you are coming along with the doctor.

Anonymous, that's awesome! Is that doctor in CA by chance? ;-) keep us posted! I, too, suffer from lower back pain (herniated disc at my l5-s1, probably something with the facet joints too. I'm in my second round (in 5 years) of physical therapy.

Wish we had a forum to list Drs in each person's state that is sympathetic that if Just one person was helped it be worth it. I think ones I've been to don't listen to all the symptoms

Thank you all, I am going to have to tell the doctor that I cannot take the Norflex. It makes me so tired that I can't stay awake. If I didn't have a 3 year old daughter that would be okay :) maybe we can try something else. Yes I told the doctor that I have always been pretty passive and it really hasn't helped me. He said he has other patients like that. He has to drag it outbid them hehe he's just very nice and personable.
