My genetic counseling appointment was Wednesday morning. Stuff I didn't expect to hear was... heard. lol
It was mostly a journey into family history. Very informative.
I'm definitely showing signs of a connective tissue disorder, but not just one. Marfan syndrome was discussed because I had positive wrist and thumb signs. I was told you don't actually have to be tall and lanky to have it, so... I was like wat lmao. There are lots of similarities and it surprised me.
I'm supposed to have an echocardiogram done to check my aorta because I've been having problems with chest pain, and an MRA on my brain because aneurysms run in my family. Heart problems are common in both Ehlers-Danlos and Marfan. So are spontaneous ruptures.
So, yeah. Genetic testing is scheduled for September 24th. It'll be to figure out which one I have, or if I'm lucky, neither. We'll see how it goes, I guess. Then main thing now is therapy and pain control.
sorry if this was long lol.
