Thanks Animallover2. I'm not really taking the supplements for pain management or alleviation, more as a way of helping my body as it gets older. Sure I could probably get all the vitamins I need from eating all the correct fruits and vegetables but thus us the lazy way of doing it. I'm, not expecting any miracle changes now but more from a maintenance /life extending point of view
I'm taking magnesium citrate supplement and it has helped marginally with my muscle twitches. I still get them but not as severe, it took about 6 to 8 weeks before it took affect. Magnesium is also meant to be very good for nerve pain as well as relaxing the muscles so the muscle pain is reduced. I've found if I'm in a hell of a lot of muscle pain then I also have a warm bath with 1-2 cups of Epsom bath salts for 20 minutes if I know I'm going to struggle getting out of the bath I soak my feet in a large bowl or in a foot spa with a cup of Epsom bath salts....it also leaves my skin feeling nice and soft. I also take a vitamin B complex and an iron suspension supplement.....the iron suspension is a gental formula which hasn't upset my system as I can't take normal iron supplements, they give me stomach cramps and diarrhoea....I take these to help with my energy and fatigue. I'm not entirely sure if they've helped some days I don't feel as fatigued and other days are just bad days all round with everything! I also take the iron as I'm borderline anemic. My GP has prescribed vitamin D supplement as I'm borderline deficient with that as well. I also take a multi vitamin and mineral supplement just for an all round health point of view.
Some of us find vitamins and minerals help but some don't, everyone is different so it's all trial and error x
I am on a mix of vitamins and I have finally found the combination that works for me, I also find Epsom salt baths really helpful on high pain days. I take omega 3, vitamin d, vitamin b, iron and magnesium
Keep taking them, they could be helping more then you know. I recently under went a battery of tests to find out what was wrong with me now. I found it i had ms but what i also found out is that my vitamins B, c, d were all extremely low along with little to no testosterone in my body. Now in off to see an endocrinologist to find out why my body isn't absorbing any nutrients. So please anything you can do to help yourself please continue to do
Vitamin D is a huge help with pain ,sleep and depression. My Dr. Tokd me almost everyone is deficeint. He said to take the gels and not tablets. I take 5000IU per day along with B vitamins,Magnesium and calcium. Those are important as well for bone health. I take Predisone and it can cause Osteoporosis.
My Dr prescribed vitamin D gel capsules because I'm borderline deficient, she also prescribed iron tablets but my system couldn't handle them! I've had to buy an iron suspension supplement that is easy on my stomach
My dr recommended vitamin C 1000mg, Coq10 enzyme and PEA enzyme (natural anti inflammatory) i feel better for it too. I have taken fish oil in the past but didn't notice any improvements and opted out for that one.
