I had my hearing Sept 22nd, recieved a fully favorable decision on Oct 30th. Now its Nov 20th and still have not received my award letter with any payment. Its driving me crazy! Atleast the hard part is finally over!

The hard part IS over. Now they need to figure out how much retro lay they owe you and then get it all to you and set up which Wednesday of the month you will get subsequent checks. Congrats!! It will all fall into place before you know it, it imminent!! {{{{Hugs}}}} 💕🙏🏻🌻🤗

The judge awarded me 36 months of backpay:) it's such a relief to know that the struggle is finally over:)

I am really, really excited for you. Three years retro is a life altering reward. Thank God you no longer have to fight for it. I pray that the rest of the family members here that are still struggling to get theirs, get their approvals really soon. You'll all be in my thoughts and prayers hoping that it happens as soon as possible. {{{Hugs}}} 💕🙏🏻🌻

Melram1981,do you mind me asking what illness you suffer from?

Nov 21, 2015 10:31 PM

Melram, I am really happy that you got your social security. I am sure that this is a huge relief after waiting for so long without pay. Most people can't do it. But then again, most people don't have a choice. I am just saying there are a lot of disabled people out there suffering through a lot of pain because they can't stop working. They don't have supportive families. So they suffer while working as little as they can. It is so sad. I am sure the wait was hard on you too. I am just so happy you got yours. I wish everyone who needs it could get it. The government makes it so hard for the ones who really need it. Best wishes

Fighting Fibro- I have Fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease.

Profiler- Yes, I understand I used to have to try and work through my pain as well. I have also been fighting for 5 years. Needless to say I myself and family have extremely suffered. It does suck that the government makes it so hard, but like I said fight til the end!

Meltram1981, I too jumped through all of the hoops to be turned down. I appealed and decision was still unfavorable. This was about 2 years ago. I again, have started this grueling process again, this time with an attorney that I think will be a big help. My first attorney was through legal aide and was really not much help at all. Do you have any tips or pointers? Anything that sticks out to you that you think helped? I feel like this isn't about being "disabled" but about how well you jump through the hoops. Still feeling discouraged. 😔. However, congrats to you!

Chroniclysickntired-A lawyer will definitely help. I was also denied once at hearing level, then all the way through til I had my 2nd hearing. Social Security likes to see narrative reports. My rheumatologist wrote an amazing narrative report there was nothing the judge to argue with. Also, dont exaggerate your symptoms, judges will see right through it. I was only asked two questions from the judge because my report was so detailed. Good luck ! Feel free to ask me anything:)

Melram1981, I'm so happy for you! I think it took my sister 2-3 months before her payments started. I'll say a prayer yours will be much sooner!
