Waiting on lab results

Mar 23, 2015 7:49 PM

Does anyone know where to find information on how long specific blood labs take to process? Normally my results are posted online within 24 hours but it's been almost three weeks since my blood was drawn. I'm thinking maybe one of the tests maybe takes a really long time so none have posted??

I don't know the length but I was informed that because my labs are don't at a lab facility and they don't have access to the doctors office online site, they're not posted. Funny thing is two other docs have the same system, and that same lab company labs are posted on their sites. It may not be like that for you, but if your labs are done separate then may be.

Every other time I've had blood work done at the outpatient part of the hospital here it's posted. But I am having a couple less common things done like the Lyme tests. And I've heard that antibody tests can take longer. Three weeks just seems TOO long. But I guess maybe if one of the tests wasn't run at the lab here then maybe none of it posted? My doctors office isn't connected to the patient portal even though they are part of the same hospital network. I think they just haven't bothered setting it up. Wish they would. So I don't know if the doctor has the results and I just can't see them.

I was at the doctor today and they told me it would take about four weeks to get the lab results for the stuff they ordered IF I got it done at the same hospital the doctor was at. I guess it's just complex stuff. Or they are backlogged.

I would find out if they are backlogged and if they are I would request the tests again as if the blood isn't relatively fresh the results won't be accurate.

Iathompson I would find out if they are backlogged and if they are wait until they aren't.
The Lyme test I believe only takes 1-2 weeks.

I got my results back. Everything was the way it should be. So back to no clue. My thyroid is a tad swollen so going to do an ultrasound. But other than that we are at the point of nothing else to test.

How long did it take for the results? Wad the lab backlogged? Please read my post on your other thread

According to the printouts, my doctor reviewed them six days after they were drawn.

Okay, so they were tested very quickly perfect! :)
