Ways to manage fibro fog/short-term memory problems??

Apr 23, 2017 8:01 PM

I am a 19 year old girl and have been diagnosed with Fibro for 1 1/2 years now.

I've recently been suffering with my short term memory and as a 19 year old it's starting to annoy me a little. I'm constantly asking questions about things I did a moments ago which I can't remeber or completely forgetting to do something (sometimes I feel like I drive my boyfriend mad)

Has anyone got any suggestions about how to cope with fibro fog/short-term memory problems??

Also any tips on how to not let my fibro get to me because as a 19 year old I want to do so much but find myself crying at the end of the day because I'm in so much pain.
Thank you in advance.

I have fibro fog as well. I'm a 36 with a demanding career. I have to write things down. I use sticky notes, set alarms, and have "to do" apps in my phone. I never had to take these measures before fibromyalgia. It changes your entire life! Mornings for me are rough, I'm usually in horrible pain and very stiff. I try to combat that by setting my alarm 45 to 1hour before I need to get out of bed. I'm I take a Tylenol Arthritis (over the couter)and use my heating pad on tender points. I do the same thing prior to bed. Explain to your boyfriend that your illness cause you brain fog which is why you forget things and it would help for him to be supportive. Your so young to have these issues honey. I try to look at the bright side I could have been diagnosed with something terminal. We can have a productive life, this is just a painful set back. I definitely understand your pain!

Morning Courtney98, I think the majority of us suffer from fibro fog. It's a waking nightmare at times for us. It's hard to make our partners understand and I wish I knew how to help you with it. Other than sitting him down and talking to him, try to explain how it works and how frustrating it is for you.
To help myself with it in other ways I use a little notebook, if something pops into my head I write it down, appts I put on calendars and as my phone and set reminders.
I also put a list of a few tips on how to manage fibro a little easier
I hope your boyfriend will try to take some of it on board 😊
