Weather is a pain...

Jun 18, 2015 4:20 PM

So it's 98 degrees today but feels like 113! What a time to run out of meds and have to get out. Our pharmacy is only 10 minutes away. But the heat and bright sunlight started a headache. I realized it was a migraine when I got back home.

Our SE weather (dry heat wave) isn't just punishing my body. The grass & trees & shrubs are shriveling up. Where I'm at hasn't seen rain in 3-4 weeks. I was hoping the storm that came over TX would bring us some reprieve. As hot as this week has been they're predicting bother tremors next week. Ugh! I feel so sorry for every state that's flooding or drying up.

I've had to go up on the thermostat to keep it from running non stop. When it does come on its making my joints hurt. I hate this excessively extreme weather! 🙏🌼

I would be happy to send you some of the 19 inches we received in the past few weeks. You can have the 90 degree temp with 70% humidity too. Feels like sticking your head in the oven. All of the storms have my joints very angry. The joys of Houston weather. The funny part is I complain when it is below 50 degrees because that makes me hurt too. I want 65 to 80 degrees year round maybe 30% humidity any suggestions. Weather affects our bones so much.

We both agreed t that 65-80 is perfect! I feel so badly for the flooded areas more than the drought & heat areas. We will recover much quicker. We had a centennial flood here in 1993 or '94. So I am familiar with the chaos of flooding. My heart aches for all of you!

And yes, I also hate the real cold months because of the pain. As I'm typing this we have a storm over us with high winds and hail... The first rain in weeks!

So rain apparently affects my pain more than I realized, and the humidity after. It rained over 2 hours last night, the first in weeks. I woke up with worse pain all over, stiffness and squeezing sensation in muscles. The humidity is so bad it's hard to breathe outside. I'm thankful for the reason but I hate the aftereffects. Does anyone else's body react this way? 🙏🌼

Oh, Flappsy do I hear what you're saying!! It's 85 and very humid and it's causing horrible pain. My hand is even killing me. I go to pain management Monday and due to the broken hand, I am short on meds!! It's making me very grumpy!!

I wish I could do something to help you. I meant to ask you, do you have osteoporosis or osteopenia? I have the latter and they told me to be careful of falling because I'm at a higher risk of breaking a major joint now. Is there anything you can do besides meds for your hand? When my daughter fell and snapped her humerus in half she spent 3-4 months in a cast. The doc told us to warm blankets or towels in the dryer and lay them on her arm. She said it helped. She took Ibuprofen in the day and the rx over night. I hope and pray you'll start having less pain soon! 🙏🌼

FlappysLady, no my body reacts like that as well. I start getting pain in the left ankle and right knee about 24-48 hours before any precipitation starts. Even if the air conditioner is on too cold or directly blowing on my lower body, it aches like crazy. Humidity, forget about it. I have to stay in the house when it is too humid. Instant joint ache and asthma attack.
