Weight gain!!!!!

Jan 31, 2016 4:19 AM

Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhh. 5 years ago I rapidly started gaining weight and feeling unwell. GP kept saying "change your diet". Hair was falling out, legs throbbed, couldn't get out of bed..... after nearly a year of this and 4 stone heavier, I went private and was told I had hypothyroidism and the thyroid was covered in 9 cysts. Was put straight on thyroxine and started to feel human again but have never been able to lose that weight but didn't put on any more. So 4 years on, I now have chronic kidney disease, high blood presure, heel spurs, fibro, depression ontop of thyroid. On 10 different pills a day not including pain meds and the weight has started gaining again!!! I honestly feel obesity will kill me before anything else!!! Feeling very blue today. 😢😨😵💙

I'm sorry BishBosh, you hang in there. When you are hypothyroid like I am it's very hard to lose the weight. Even on levothyroxine, the immobility and pain stop me from doing a lot. I'm fortunate in the fact that I don't have high blood pressure, diabetes or heart disease. All of my issues are autoimmune. However, the weight doesn't help any. I'm sorry you're having a blue day. I've got you, gimme a {{{{Hug}}}} and know that you're not alone. You're in my prayers. 💕🙏🏻🌻😍

Hi BishBoshManor just wondered if you are taking pregabalin aka lyrica for pain ?

Bishboshmanor, I'm so sorry you're feeling blue. But I totally feel what you're going through. I complained for 5 years something was wrong because I was gaining weight, losing hair, had dry scaly skin, fatigue, etc. My PCP kept saying I had all the symptoms of hypothyroidism but the tests were normal. Then I had an ultrasound that shows my thyroid gland is damaged. An endocrinologist said I'm sub clinical hypothyroidism but due to the damage and symptoms she went ahead and started me on liothyronine & levothyroxine. I thankfully don't have diabetes, blood pressure issues, but I've now got vascular and heart issues started. I'm trying to maintain my weight and not gain further by changing to a healthier diet with less fried and sweets. But I'm also reducing my portion sizes. And I try to walk a treadmill as often as my body let's me. Even with a fibro/sjogrens flare right now, I attempted to walk, but I only made it 10 minutes... And that was a struggle to last that long. Lol.

I have 3 AI diseases, asthma, allergies, depression, anxiety, and multiple other chronic pain issues, randomly over 30 years, but the most added since 2010. And due to them all I take 19 prescription meds daily, along with some vitamins. I keep thinking if they add any more I'll die of liver failure. It is frustrating so much. The sad part is that 6 years ago I was only taking 5-6 meds a day.

I try my best not to focus on the meds or diagnoses. I try focusing on what to do reach day to get through it with as little pain as possible. And it never fails that this community lifts me up most of the time! Hugs, love, & prayers! Hang on to us all & we'll get through it together. 🙂🙏💕🌼
