I a Thompson I had Vertical Gastric Sleeve surgery in 2013 I wish that I had done it 30 yrs ago. I have had a wonderful experience . I lost 86 lbs. The most important thing g to remember is to take you vitamins every day, drink water, flavored, green tea, sobe water lifewater, coffee. And exercise.
When I had mine my blood sugars were out of control ,my blood pressure was uncontrolled mainly from pain. I weighed 286 lbs. I was taking 10 units Byetta 2 x day, 50 units Lantus, 12 units Humalog before each meal and sliding in between. Now I take 10 units Lantus 1 x day as needed sometimes I don't need to take it. My Ac1 used to be 8 now it's a 5. I am still having problems with my blood pressure due to my pain. We can't seem to get it under control. You have to show that you have tried losing weight and couldn't keep it off.
I still have a way to go but you have to take it one day at a time. You have to take vitamins and minerals the rest of your life, drink only water, green tea, flavored water, sobe water lifewater, coffee. You can't drink anything carbonated it will make you very sick, and you can't drink from a straw anymore. I did one time I thought I was going to die it my stomach so bad, I threw up sveral times because it pulled air into my stomach which is the size and shape of a banana.you can't Handel anything really greasy it will make you throw up. My advise is buy the book that talks about Vertical Gastric Sleeve surgery and read it before you have the surgery. Good luck.
