Well damn, this sucks

Aug 01, 2016 8:38 AM

Okay so it's been almost 5 full days since my spinal tap experience and let me tell you, the spinal or low-pressure headache is no freaking joke already.
If I could rip the top part of my head off, I would. And if I didn't have somewhere to be this afternoon, I wouldn't even be out of bed right now.
Going to give it another 24 hours to see if it resolves on it's own. If not, I'm thinking I might need to go into the neurologists office for an IV migraine cocktail. That actually did get it to stop the last time. I was hoping not to have to resort to that, but nobody deserves to be miserable for days with this stuff.
Sorry for venting, I just needed to get it out already!!!!! Yes, I have been doing everything that I can think of to get it to stop(caffeine, extra fluids, chocolate, laying flat). It seems to stop temporarily if I lay flat, but when I get back up, heaven help me. There we go again.

Day 5 is too much sweetie... go get it checked out incase u have a complication. Better safe than sorry 🌹

Not to concern you but it sounds like they've messed up just a bit. It sounds to me like you have a CSF leak from your tap. If that is the case, you DEFINITELY need to be seen and the sooner the better. Meds won't fix it, they'll just be a band-aid.

Southern, yes neurologist is concerned about that as well. Have to go back to the office Wednesday morning at 8 am to discuss proceeding with a blood patch. Can I pull my hair out now please????

Sounds like a fluid leak!

Zeta, yes that's what the neurologist is concerned about at this point. When stuff like this happens, it makes the idea of a shunt less and less scary already!!!

So the word is this..... They suspect strongly that there is a spinal fluid leak. We are doing conservative measures at the moment. As much caffeine as I can stand, bedrest until Monday and holding my fluid pill until Monday. If the headache hasn't gone by then, they will get me set up for a blood patch. Oh and remarkably, the swelling on the optic nerve in my right eye has gotten better since last Wednesday when they did the spinal tap. So something good did come out of it.
At this point, I'm going to bed. I'm hurting and tired right now.

Okay so it's been 24 hours already. Resting is starting to get annoying and uncomfortable to my back. Had to stop with the caffeine because it was fixing to trigger an IC flare up already(thankfully it didn't go full flegged). Neck is still stiff, eyes hurt, nausea and just a dull headachy feeling if I have to bend over to pick something up from off the floor and bend down period. Meh!
