What are your favourite comfort foods?

Nov 15, 2016 7:53 AM

At the moment my favourite comfort food is homemade soup.....in the top half of the picture is my chunky veg and soya protein chunks soup and the bottom half is my adapted version of MizzMonroe's chicken soup....I had to add carbs to it because my daughter was having some and she needs the "good" carbs like from the sweet potato so she can have her insulin injection (she's type 1 diabetic).
Feel free to add your favourites.....especially any good recipes you have, I love trying new flavours all the time..

Jahmac that sounds delicious.....can you share the recipe? I've never tried plantain....I've always wanted to but been too afraid that I'd cook it wrong!

Gibber is that with all the trimmings as well? I haven't had nachos for a while, I like to add chilli, cheese and if I'm feeling really brave jalapeños over them! (Not too many jalapeños tho they'd burn my taste buds too much with their spice!)

Alwayz I've not had lobster in a long time but I do love the extra large prawns with a medium rare steak sliced in french stick with a sweet chilli sauce

I'm getting hungry now.....mmmmmm

Nov 16, 2016 4:58 PM

Flappys that 7 layers sounds Awesome, is each later slightly different? Whats the layer filling you use?

Nov 16, 2016 6:22 PM

Popcorn, im alomst addiction to one particular brand

Nov 16, 2016 7:17 PM

@ Sezzy & Kell74, It's just a shout cream cake baked in 7 very thin layers. Then the icing is a further icing made in a iron skillet, and poured over each layer. The top layer you drizzle in circles so it goes down the sides. If I can find the recipe I'll post it. My stepmom also cheats with yellow or butter Duncan hinges cake mixes (2) in a hurry

Nov 16, 2016 11:00 PM

That would be great Flappys if you could.....I'm really starting to drool now!!!!

Mknight I love the sweet and salted popcorn that you pop in the microwave.....I had to stop buying it because I would eat the whole freshly popped bag in one sitting!!!!

Nov 17, 2016 2:35 PM

Popcorn.. Yum. Kettle corn? Even better. Sour cherry candies - because it takes me back to my teen years and movie theatres. Lol. And Fried Chicken for the same reason. Any time we traveled mom made alot of it. Enough to fill a big Tupperware bowl. We would stop.at road side parks and run. Then have chicken before moving on. So, while I love both of those I consider them comfort foods because of the memories attached to them. Oh and Turkey always brings to mind my Mammaw who when we finally arrived (I am an Army brat - so we never lived close)

Nov 17, 2016 2:40 PM

Oops. I was going to say Mammaw always met us at the door saying " Y'all come on in here!" and then proceeded to feed us.
