I am trying to figure out how others manage mild-moderate pain that might not be bad enough for breakthrough pain meds? Like yesterday, I made a huge boo-boo. I let my IC pain get out of my control and ended up taking a Tramadol. That's something I normally don't do so I'm trying to figure out what others do... Thanks
Amanda, after all the time you have a member of this community you know there are several threads of people and how they find distraction. 😊 As you know, what works for some doesn't work at all for others and some stuff works for everyone.🐫 I know that you have an arsenal of distraction techniques like music, singing, working on your family tree, (Break dancing, Hula Hoop, 10k bike races... LOL!!)😂😜. The main thing is to never let the pain get ahead of your meds. It can't always be avoided and on bad days, meds do little anyway. 🤗 You know what to do, I know you do... OR, I could just smack you around for a while if you want!! 😂🐫😜👌🏼😝
Im having a damn LP today..🐧.with guided imagery no less...🐫 (mainly cos of the masses of fusion 🐧and stenosis they need to plough thru 🐫to get the damn sample.)....lol..😉 ...my bare ass ( x ) will be featuring 😄in a Hampshire Theatre around 9am....🐫just to take my mind off things! Does that count...? 😉
Personally... Id rather take a "smack" from Alwayz! 😙
Back at home 🤗 curled up on my bed😊.head fine...🐫but harsh back pain at LP site! 😙 the doctor was really really good ⚘ although that iv was not for sedation at all! 😷it was for a bag of sodding saline afterwards! 🤔 but they really came thru for me 🤗...im just proud i managed to get thru it...even tho i cried like a girl 😄🐧😚
Lulabel - I used to work in Pediatric Oncology. One of my jobs was to help hold the kids when they had an LP or Bone Marrow. It always amazed me that the younger kids often refused the numbing meds. The older the child the more help they needed. I had received a new watch when I completed nursing school. It was a musical Micky and Minnie mouse. When you pushed a button it played "I Wanna Hold Your Hand." and the second hand danced back and forth. So for distraction the kids would play the watch. They got to where they new how many times they would have to play it before they were done. Then they got to pick out a toy and if they had to go to the hospital they got a super soaker to sneak attack the nurses over there. Lol.
