What medication do we all take and does it work?

Sep 13, 2014 9:17 PM

conditions : ME, fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis, under-active thyroid, carpal tunnel, endometriosis, PCOS, hypermobility syndrome, restless legs over-active bladder, duplex kidney, hormonal imbalance ... etc etc etc etc.. LOL! Im on a range of medications : - pain killers - Oramorph 60ml per day & 40mcg morphine patch per 7 days & 400mg paracetamol per day. - for sleep/keeping my calm and less stressed - Phenergan 50mg tabs at night. - thyroid drugs - levothyroxine 50mcg per day & liothyronnie 20mcg per day. - anti sickness etc - domperidone 30mg per day & Lansoprazole 30mg per day. I also have to use various creams, lotions, shampoos etc for my psoriasis. So far I'm 'stable' but I'm still in quite a plot of pain considering the amount of morphine I take each day. I don't seem to be able to tolerate many drugs for longer than a few months. My body seems to say "ok, I'm ok with this for now but in 4 months I'll throw it up and you'll have to feed me something else" I've been on every single pain killer out there, co-codamo, codine, solpadol, syndol, codrydramol, tramadol... you name it, I've tried it. I was on tramadol for 5 years and I ended up having a problem with it. I only ever took it because I wanted it... it never helped the pain but my GP refused to help me get off it or change it to something else. nice huh? changed my GP in Byrne surgery and they sorted me out to my current collection of meds. anyone else on similar drugs?

Remicaide 5- 100 mg doses reconstituted & delivered by infusion, Methotrexate by injection; tablets don't work. Mobic, prednisone, vulterin gel, lidog

The lidocaine patches properly placed help me to walk ane stay mobile ; I use two a bay, one for each day. I take 250 mg Benadryl at nite for itching, stay on a combination of glutin free, blood type diet with a high glycimic diabetic diet I take 250 mg venlafaxine EX. The key to it is treating the symptoms and eating a lot of lamb and salmon as well as vitamins as listed in the blood type diet. I started walking in water and sand. My goal is to be able to walk at least 5 miles. Almost forgot; with all the meds you take it is critical to be using Ultra Clear Plus in a smoothie every day to cleans your kidneys and liver of by products left behind by the drugs. There is one more device in my arsenal; the handy dandy H-Wave electronic device that kills the pain signal to the brain. H-Wave is better than morphine and doesn't make you stupid since it only delivers a puls at the area that needs pain relief.

I have a pain pump surgically implanted in my abdomen. I have pure Fentanyl in the pump on a continuous slow release. I also have Oxycodone for break thru pain. I am post laminectomy and Harrington rod infusion (on my back) 30+ years. In other words, failed back syndrome, arthritis... etc. The pump is a life changer! It has allowed me to be able to rejoin life again.

Meds are a tricky thing to little an it wont work to much it makes it more painfull and the combo of a couple of meds works better.

I have tried them all also. Right now the thing that works the best Is percocet flexIral lyrica effexor and then a bunch of other ones for other problems this combination seems to work the best but my pain level still averages around 7 all day sometimes it goes up sometimes it goes down but that's pretty rare I have no idea I give up and just live in pain it sucks

ugh...no one gets it. my parents had a talk with me worried about pain meds! I'm 35......I understand but the only narcotic I take is 5/325 hydracodone. when I can't take the pain. I also work full time it kills me. most are on much stronger meds and don't work. I feel I'm dealing pretty well. I appreciate their concern too

I have Crohn's, fibro, 3 ruptured disks, DDD disease, thyroid issues, etc. I'm in Cimzia, gaberpatin 1800 a day, cymbalta 60, sulfasalaside sp?. I have some muscle relaxers and narco...Tyelnol 4....because of crohn's I try to survive without narcotics...it's a balancing act. I was told by my PT that my pain could be control...by my mind. he sent me a video that talks about how our mind controls pain. I wish it was that easy!!!

lots of the drugs you are all on I've not heard of. I'm guessing your in the US?

Sep 19, 2014 9:04 PM

I'm on hydrocodone 10/325 1-2 every 4-6 hrs. I've been on them since March, not helping much anymore and my surgeon has referred me to a pain specialist. I know my life, the quality of my life would be nothing if I didn't have something for my chronic knee pain. and to think just 7 months ago, and last summer I was perfectly fine, hiking, walking enjoying everything. now standing/being on my feet too much, I swell, and this knee OA gets going. I wish we all had a life free of pain!

I've heard that too...the pain med talk mainly from just a few friends, my family understands. that's what these are for...to help us! we don't want this life of pain, hurting...but these meds allow us to lead a normal life (somewhat). and when it comes to sleep...I dream of getting a good nights rest, but since I got hurt, and now this OA, I sleep about 4-5 hrs a night at most. sounds like your dealing pretty well, and if the 5/325's work....that's great! I also think this app is one of the best!! this forum being able to chat is so helpful!

I have DDD, compressed and ruptured discs. And neck pain that has just started in the last 12 months. I'm also severely anemic. But we finally found the problem and I get iron shots. The Dr. Switched me from vicodin( 7.5 4xs a day) to fentanyl patch 25 mcg. Doesn't seem to work and getting headaches. Also no energy.

So far been told I have fibro, RA, and restless leg. I take meloxicam 15mg, hydroxychloroquine 200mg 2times a day, ropinirole 1mg, cyclobenzaprine 10mg, trazodone 50mg, and tramadol 50mg as needed for pain. I try not to take the tramadol unless I really need to. I'm still new to most of this considering most everything only started back in July, but so far not noticing much of a difference. Still waking up multiple times throughout the night and pain is still regular every day. I know it can take some time for some meds to work, just hoping they have me on the right ones.
